When I woke up, I wasn't in the abandoned building anymore. My head ached, my vision blurry as I slowly pushed myself upright. The air was damp and cold, carrying that thick, old smell of mildew and dust. Stone walls surrounded me, lit my flickering candles that barely chased away the shadows.

It looked like some kind of ancient basement.

My heart pounded as I got to my feet, every instinct in me screaming that something wasn't right.

"Hello?" I called out, my voice echoing.
"Is anyone there?" I yelled

Silence. Just the slow drop of water somewhere in the distance.

"Where the hell am I..." I mumbled under my breath, walking further in.

I turned a corner and froze. The hallway opened into a round room, a massive stone pillar in the center covered in strange carvings and runes.

"What the f-" I started to say, but then footsteps echoed behind me.

"Elizabeth...Elizabeth..." a voice sang out softly.

I turned, every nerve in my body going rigid. Out of the shadows stepped a girl my age, her dark hair curled neatly over her shoulders, her eyes glinting the something sharp and knowing.

"You didn't think you were the only magical girl in this school, did you?" She asked.

With a causal flick of her wrist, the door behind me slammed shut.

"The name's Hailey Harkness. Lovely to finally meet you dear!" Her smile was sweet- but the kind of sweet that curled in your throat.

I blinked, trying to process her words.

She tilted her head, lifting her small white bunny to her ear as if it whispered something.
"Hmm what? No, I know. She does look shocked to meet the real us, doesn't she?" She said

My eyes narrowed slightly, that familiar blue glow starting to burn behind them.

"Oh that's adorable. My thoughts are not available to you, darling. They never were. So don't go givin yourself a migraine." She said

I looked around for a way out, but there wasn't one. No door. No window. Nothing but cold stone.

"We've got work to do." She said simply, setting her bunny down.

"Where am I?" I asked, my voice sharpening info a faint accent- the one that always slipped through when I was angry.

'''Where am I?'" She repeated in a mocking tone.
"You really want to act intimidating. It's so cute!" She said

"I won't ask again" I said, taking a step forward. Power sparkled to life in my palms- but the second I tried to use it, nothing happened.

My powers flickered out.
