"Oh yeah, you're much more of a Thanos." Strange said dryly.
Thanos turned toward him slowly, his expression unreadable. "I take it that Maw is dead." He said.
"This day extracts a heavy toll. Still, he accomplished his mission." He adds.
"You may regret that. He brought you face-to-face with the master of the Mystic Arts." Strange replied.
"And where do you think he brought you?" Thanos asked.
"Let me guess. Your home?" Strange said, unimpressed.
"It was." He said
The world around us shifted- burnt rock and ruin twisting into a golden sky and red sand. The planet transformed before our eyes, glowing with life for just a moment.
"Titan was like most plants. Too many mouths, and not enough to go around. And when we faced extinction, I offered a solution." Thanos said.
"Genocide." Strange said.
"But at random, dispassionate, fair to rich and poor alike. They called me a madman. And what I predicted came to pass." He waved his hand, and the beauty faded back into ash.
"Congratulations. You're a prophet." Strange said
"I'm a survivor." Thanos corrected.
"Who wants to murder trillions." Strange adds
"With all six stones, I could simply snap my fingers, and they would all cease to exist. I call that... mercy." Thanos said calmly.
"And then what?" Strange asked.
"I finally rest... And watch the sun rise on a grateful universe. The hardest choices require the strongest wills." He answered.
"I think you'll find our will equal to yours." Strange said.
"Our?" Thanos repeated.
He looked up- too late. A massive boulder came crashing down on him. The impact sent a shockwave across the surface.
"Piece of cake, Quill." Tony said, landing behind the rock.
"Yeah, if your goal was to piss him off." Quill said
The boulder glowed purple and exploded, throwing debris everywhere. Thanos rose from the smoke, fury behind his eyes. A red beam shot from his hand, morphing into shrieking bats that swarmed Tony.
That was my cue.
I launched forward, hands glowing, sending a blast that collided with thanos. Peter darted through stranges portals, webbing and kicking thanos in flashes of red and blue. We were actually holding our ground- until thanos caught him midair, hand closing around Peter's throat.
"Insect." Thanos growled, tossing him aside.
I caught Peter mid-fall, landing on my feet "Arachnida, actually" I said, hurling a blast straight into thanos chest.
He stumbled backward- just enough time for mantis to leap onto his shoulders, pressing her hands to his temples.
