Lunch time rolled around, meaning the entirety of the Nekoma boys' volleyball club would be having lunch together. And, naturally, that included you as well.
You sat down at the usual table with your bento in hand. You place it on the table, grab your chopsticks, and open up the bento box. As you thanked for the food, the boys arrived.
"Hey, L/n." Kuroo greeted, a grin on his face.
You nodded at the boys. "Hey, guys."
Yaku sat beside you. "How was your classes, L/n?"
You knew something was off with the team, and Yaku's actions proved it. "Fine. Why do you ask? None of you have ever asked that before."
You look over to Kenma, seeing he was already eating his food silently in his spot across from you. He looked up to make eye contact with you, offering a small smile.
Yaku shrugged. "Just curious." He looked over at Kenma, seeing the setter's eyes on you.
Kuroo smirked, knowing what was going on. "So, L/n, why don't you talk about your weekend for a bit. I know I've already heard the gist of it, but I think the rest of the team is curious about what you did in a different prefecture."
From the corner of your eye, you saw Kenma perk up. "Uh, well... I was just spending time with my cousin and our childhood friend. Of course, they had practice all weekend, so I was sitting in on their practices. I even hung out with the entire team for a day."
Kuroo's eyes widened. "You never said you hung out with a whole other team. You only mentioned sitting in on their practices."
"To be fair, I didn't go into detail with it. But, yeah, I hung out with them. It kind of reminded me of being around you guys. I didn't sleep one night and ended up falling asleep during their practice. When I woke up, I thought I was with all of you. But then I was confused as to why none of you were there. It took me a few moments to process."
The boys sat in a stunned silence.
The Yamamoto cheered. "So you think about us when we're not around?!"
"Sometimes, I guess."
The boy with the mohawk celebrated to himself. "Awesome!"
You immediately thought about three specific members of Karasuno, comparing their behavior to Yamamoto's. "Yup, it's the same."
"What is?" Lev asked, looking at you with curiosity.
"The way you all behave and the way the guys on my cousin's team behave. You guys are all the same. Except for Kenma, there's no one like him on that team. Unless I compare some similarities to my cousin."
"So we all have a counterpart on your cousin's team?" Yaku raised a brow.
You look at the still cheering Yamamoto. "Some of you have multiple counterparts." You deadpanned.
Lev leaned closer to you, causing Kenma to glare at him. "Do I have a counterpart?"
You look at the tall first year, trying to see who he reminds you of. "You're like a mix of my childhood friend and this one energetic first year they have on their team. Mainly the energetic guy, and a small amount of my friend."
Kuroo leaned on the table, attempting to get closer to you. "Can we have names so we know who you're talking about?"
You sigh. You end up telling the guys al about Karasuno, from the name of the school to the to name and position of each of the players. This, of course, included your cousin.
The guys stared in you in awe as you talked about the team you spent the entire weekend with.
"Are you going to spend time with them this weekend, as well?" Kenma finally spoke up, looking at you expectantly.
You nod. "Every weekend, I'll be going back to Miyagi to spend time with Kei. And since Karasuno practices on weekends, I'll be attending."
Kenma silently went back to eating his food, eyes still focused on you. He continued to shift his attention between your eyes and your lips. And in that moment, he really wanted to kiss you.
You look over at Kenma while the other guys started talking, meeting the golden gaze that was fixated on you. Your eyes widened briefly when you saw him staring at you. He offered a small smile, not taking his eyes off of you. You quickly look down at your food, breaking the eye contact before something could happen in front of the whole team.
Kenma made a mental note of the way your face turned pink. His smile got slightly bigger as he kept taking in all of your features. He just remained like that, staring at you while he continued eating.
And the team noticed his stare on you. They remained silent about it.
