"Don't say a word."
"I wish we went to the spa today instead of yesterday."
You and your cousin walk to the train station together. Tsukishima had decided he'd walk you there, so you wouldn't have to be alone.
He frowns. "I said to not say anything."
You smile at him. "I never saw you as relaxed as you were yesterday. I wish you could've stayed like that for a bit longer."
He huffed out a breath. "Maybe I would've been in a good mood if practice had been cancelled so I wouldn't have had to deal with those idiots."
You chuckle, arriving at the station with the tall blond. "Maybe we can do something relaxing when I come back next weekend."
Tsukishima smiles. "That would be nice."
You wave at him as you step onto the train that just arrived, him waving back before turning to go back home. You take a seat and pull out your phone, letting Akaashi and Kenma know you had just gotten on the train so they'd know when you'd be arriving. You were excited to see the setters again.
Akaashi texted back suddenly, soon after the train took off and began making it's way to the Tokyo prefecture.
Akaashi: Hey, Y/n, sorry but Bokuto is keeping me busy. I won't be able to pick you up from the train station today.
You: That's fine, Kenma said he'll be there
Akaashi: That's good. I wouldn't want you walking by yourself
You: Thanks for letting me know
Akaashi smiled, his plan already working. He chose not to come pick you up, giving you and Kenma the chance to talk alone together. Yes, this boy was playing the part of a wingman. And he's doing a pretty good job of it, too.
Kenma began walking to the station, unaware that Akaashi cancelled. He sighed, a small smile tugging at his lips. He was happy he'd be able to see you again. This was the one chance he got to see you without the rest of the team getting in the way.
When Kenma arrived at the station, your train had yet to arrive. He knew he left too early, but he didn't know how much longer he'd have to wait until the train arrived. And he still had no clue that Akaashi wouldn't be there. So, he texted you.
Kenma: I arrive at the station a bit early. How long do you think it'll be before the train arrives?
You: Maybe about another 20 minutes, at most. Are you ok with waiting there by yourself?
Kenma: Akaashi should be here soon
You: Akaashi isn't gonna be there today. He told me Bokuto was keeping him busy and he wouldn't be able to show up
Kenma: What?
You: Did he not tell you?
Kenma: No. But I'll still wait for your train to arrive. It would be rude to leave you all by yourself
You: Thanks. I'll see you in a bit, senpai
Kenma: See you
Kenma debated whether or not he should actually stay since Akaashi bailed. But, he had promised to be there to pick you up and didn't want to waste this chance to be able to walk with you. And so, the poor boy waited by himself.
Until, finally, the train arrived.
You got off, looking around for the pudding head.
He spotted you first and walked over, appearing behind you. "Hey, Y/n."
You jump, whipping around to face him. "Kenma!"
He had a small smile on his lips. "Did a scare you?"
"A little. I wasn't expecting you to magically appear behind me."
"Sorry. Let's go?"
You nod, smiling at him. "Let's go."
You two walk out of the train station, heading down the path to your house.
You turn to the setter. "Akaashi told me what the fight was about, for the most part."
"Did he?"
You nod. "I was wondering... what was the reason you acted differently when I first joined?"
Kenma glanced at you from the corner of his eye, nervous. "I... I um don't think I want to answer that."
"Ok. So why did you start acting different after the fight?"
"I didn't want to cause more problems within the team."
"But there was yelling in the changing room?"
He hesitated. "That was because they were bothering me to talk about something I wasn't comfortable with. I ended up panicking and yelled at them."
You look at the boy, eyes softening. "Sorry to ask you so much. I just want you guys to feel like you can trust me enough to say anything."
"We do trust you. Did you think we didn't?"
"It didn't seem like you guys did. I only found stuff out because of Akaashi. None of you come to me whenever there's a problem with the team."
Kenma sighed. "Well... I'm not one to talk much, so I guess there's my excuse. The others just don't want to push you away by troubling you so much. They already feel like they have to tread on thin ice since you agreed to be our manager and you could change your mind at any second."
"I see. Well, I did think about quitting... if no one talked to me about everything that going on. But, I don't want to quit. I enjoy hanging with you guys."
He smiles. "At least you're not leaving us."
"Yeah. Hey, wanna come over to my house?"
"Aren't we walking there?"
You nod. "But wouldn't you like to come inside and hang out for a bit. There's some stuff I wanted to share with you and Akaashi. But since he's not here, we can just talk about it at my house."
Kenma thought for a second before looking into your eyes. That's when he felt it. "I'd love to spend time with you in your house."
