At afternoon practice, you remained tense. After Lev's comments at lunch, you were on edge that maybe your feelings were a little too obvious.
They weren't. At least, not to the Nekoma boys.
Even Kenma felt like putting up his guard, not wanting Lev of all people to find out what's been going on and reveal it to the others. He silently watched the tall first year from the corner of his eye, making sure Lev wasn't trying to stick his nose where it didn't belong.
And Kuroo noticed this. "Kenma, you seem on edge. You've been keeping an eye on Lev since lunch."
"You're imagining things." The setter walks away from the captain.
Kuroo sighed, knowing he'd have to say something after practice. The last thing the team needs at the moment is a lack of trust. And with how on edge Kenma was around Lev, the team was bound to fall apart if it didn't get resolved soon.
You were also keeping a close eye on Lev, worried about the possibility of him catching you glancing longingly at Kenma. You had to control yourself, just to make sure Lev wouldn't find out about your feelings. You knew that if he did, he might say something to the rest of the team. You could not let that happen.
Yaku looked over to see your eyes on Lev. "Do you think Y/n sees how awful a player Lev is?"
The first year gaped at his senpai's statement. "What?"
"Her eyes are on you, it's kinda scary."
The team looked over to see you staring at Lev. Once you realized they were looking, you looked at your phone and pretended to be busy.
Inuoka tipped his head to the side. "Do you guys think she likes him?"
Kuroo, who saw how similarly you and Kenma were acting, knew better. "No. I have an idea, but it can wait till after practice. Everyone, just focus on practicing for now!"
And so, practice continued. Once it ended, the boys hurried to clean the gym up and went to theit changing room.
That's when Kuroo opened his mouth, speaking loud enough for the whole team to hear him. "Kenma, what was with you staring at Lev throughout practice? And don't try to deny it or avoid talking about it."
Kenma sighed. "Can't believe you'd call me out in front of everyone like this. What happened to waiting for us to be walking home by ourselves?"
Lev looked shocked. "So Kenma-san and Y/n were staring at me during practice?"
Kuroo nodded. "I think Lev is making them feel threatened."
Yaku turned, staring at the setter. "Threatened how?"
Kuroo turned to the rest of his team. "It seems they have secrets of their own. So spill something Kenma."
Kenma refused to look at his team. "I may have... caught feelings for Y/n...."
Silence rang through the room. Almost every member of the team had a shocked expression on their faces.
Kuroo chuckled breathily. "I knew it."
"Shut up, Kuro."
"I knew it from day one! And you denied it all this time!"
Kenma turned to face the taller boy with an annoyed expression on his face. "That's because I didn't know before, ok! Akaashi told me when we last hung out cuz I explained everything to him! I knew he would be the only one that wouldn't criticize or tease me!"
From outside the room you heard someone yelling, immediately going up to the door but being unable to make out any of the words. You knock on the door, raising your voice so the boys could understand you. "Is everything alright in there?"
Kenma tensed, a blush spreading on his face. He turned back to his stuff and remained silent.
Kuroo went over to the door, opening it and letting you in. "Just a little yelling, nothing to worry about."
"You guys aren't fighting again, are you?"
"Not yet."
"Yet?" You raised a brow.
Kuroo looked at Kenma briefly. "You might've just got here before anything could happen."
You look over at the setter. "Are you guys picking on Kenma-senpai again?"
"Nothing like that."
"Liar."
Kenma turned to you, making eye contact briefly. "It's nothing."
You narrow your eyes at the team. "Someone tell me what's going on. Now."
Yaku jumped in, moving closer to you. "Kuroo was asking Kenma too many questions and Kenma got annoyed."
You relax, starting to turn back to the door. "That's not too bad. Just leave each other alone tonight. I'm heading home. See you guys tomorrow." You leave the room, closing the door behind you.
Kuroo let out a sigh. "That was close."
"Too close." Yaku muttered.
Kenma grabbed his bag. "I'm never telling you guys anything personal again."
