You sit in your classroom, staring out the window as the teacher rambles on. You found yourself unable to focus on the content of the class. Instead, your mind wandered to the kisses with Kenma.
You agreed that the quiet setter was becoming bolder. Never would you have expected him to act like that.
But you didn't hate it.
You knew you liked how Kenma kept coming up to you, staring into your eyes, holding you, the way he kissed you. You liked everything. And it was all you could think about.
Going to afternoon practice wasn't any easier. This time, you Kenma would be constantly making eye contact, which caused you to blush while he smiled.
And Kuroo had enough of how the team was getting distracted. After talking with coach Nekomata, he called the whole team's attention. "At the end of the week, Fukurodani will be coming here for a practice match. Everyone needs to work hard so we can beat them."
Kenma froze, eyes going wide. He wasn't looking forward to seeing the loud captain of the Fukurodani team. He stopped looking at you, keeping his back to everyone on the team.
Of course, Kuroo noticed this. "You're not getting out of it, Kenma. Focus on practice from here on out."
The setter flinches, looking at the captain. He nods, refusing to say anything.
You watch from the sidelines as all the boys react to the news of the practice match. You found Kenma's reaction interesting, he was the only one that didn't seem excited. But more importantly, he stopped looking at you for the remainder of practice.
Yaku looked over at you, seeing your eyes focused on the boys practicing. During a break, he decided to walk over to you. "Everything alright, L/n?"
You look at him. "Yeah. The team seems excited for this match, except for Kenma. Do you guys know the Fukurodani team?"
He nods, sitting down beside you. "Yeah, we have summer training camps with them. And I think Kenma isn't looking forward to being around their captain."
"Who's the captain?"
"Bokuto Koutarou. He's pretty loud and energetic."
"Ah, so nothing I'm not used to." You chuckle, attempting to lighten the mood.
Yaku nods again. "Yeah. But he can be a bit of a handful. And they don't know you're our manager. So Bokuto's reaction isn't something a few of us are looking forward to. He's bound to make a big deal over it."
"Bokuto will be fine. We can deal with him." Kuroo strode over to you two.
You look over at the captain. "You sure? I won't need to help, will I?"
The tall third year shook his head. "I can deal with the loud owl. You just need to worry about being a manager."
Yaku sighed. "And what about Kenma? What are we gonna do about him?"
Kuroo hesitated. "Kenma can get himself together. I'll just give him a talk on the way home today. Everything will be fine."
"You don't seem so sure about that, Kuroo."
The captain narrowed his eyes at the libero. "Kenma has become unpredictable and refuses to talk about it. I get more information from L/n than I get from Kenma. And the worst part about that is I've known Kenma for years."
Yaku huffed out a breath. "So there is something going on between Kenma and L/n." He turns to you. "Isn't there?"
You look away. "I'd rather not say."
From the other side of the gym, Kenma watches as Kuroo and Yaku speak with you. He frowns, unhappy that they were probably trying to get you to speak up about what happens between you two.
Yamamoto turns to the setter. "Kenma, is something bothering you?"
"Kuroo and Yaku are getting nosy."
"Huh?" The ace looks over to see said teammates talking with you.
"They're bothering L/n. They've been doing it a lot lately."
Yamamoto looks back to Kenma. "What is the deal with you and L/n, anyways? You've been acting weird ever since she became our manager."
Kenma's eyes went wide. He remained silent for a few moments. "That... it doesn't concern you, or anyone else on the team."
"What's going on, Kenma? We're your teammates, you should talk to us."
Kenma looked at the boy beside him. "L/n is special."
