The girl, after thanking the vet countless times, with Derek's help took her brother home. They brought him into his room, where Ophelia instructed him not to move from his bed and to give himself some rest since they had just tried to kill him

Despite the constant complaints, in the end, the boy listened to her and once he lay down, he had just the time to say 'thank you' to his sister, before his eyes became heavy, making him fall asleep. Ophelia closed the door to the room and found Derek leaning against the door jamb with his arms folded, watching her

"We should talk, the two of us," the elder calmly said, in response the girl nodded and began to go down the stairs of the house: it was certainly not the case to talk there at the risk of waking her mother; so Derek drove to their shelter

"We need a new plan, the next time some of us could end up very badly," commented the Alpha, walking with his usual proud step towards the abandoned train car, Ophelia, thoughtful, followed him without uttering a word

"We can't save him, but... we can't kill him," the girl added after sitting in the wagon with Derek, who nodded at her words: They wouldn't be able to kill the Kanima since at every full moon he seemed to get stronger and stronger

"What if we let the Argents try? Maybe, they have some weapon that could at least scratch him" proposed the girl, her eyes never leaving Derek's, who had looked down before answering her

"No, I turned him, it's my fault," the boy said harshly, the girl did not understand, she put a hand on his shoulder and to that unexpected contact the boy suddenly raised his head, giving her a surprised look

"How?" that question came out in a whisper, but after all she had always wondered, ever since the moment she had seenAustin at the shelter, she had asked herself how? When and why had Derek turned him?

"After killing Peter... my thirst for revenge was not yet satisfied..." Derek took a deep breath before he started telling Ophelia what had happened that night, what he had done

"I was blinded by anger toward Kate, so when the hunters came to Beacon Hills for her funeral and started setting traps in the woods, I arranged my revenge. I kept an eye on them for a while and as soon as one of them detached from the group I attacked"ended the guy keeping his eyes low, he did not want to see the look of the girl sitting next to him, he knew that she would be disappointed and embittered by his behaviour, since, despite his motivations, he had acted as a ruthless person and hadn't though about anyone but himself 

"Derek" she called him to make him to raise his eyes, when he did, he was surprised to see an almost calm look "You were wrong to want revenge on Austin, it's true, but you were blinded by the anger due to the fact that Kate tricked you to kill your family... It is not an easy burden to handle" Ophelia felt to add while continuing to stare at the guy who looked at her more and more amazed, for a moment the girl felt the heart of the Alpha accelerate, but she did not understand the motivation

"And then you didn't know he was going to be a Kanima, it depends on his past," added the girl, keeping her eyes on him, but Derek once again looked down

"It's not that simple, that's just a legend," he sighed, looking straight ahead without crossing the confused and increasingly severe gaze of the girl

"What do you mean? Is there something you're trying to hide from me?"the girl assumed not understanding the statement that the older had just made, was there something about the Kanima that he was not telling her? Again?

"Why do you think I'm always hiding something?!" the boy was exhausted by that day and had absolutely no desire to be interrogated like some criminal, in that exact moment he would have so much wanted to solve all those useless problems
