Percy, being forced from the tent by Will, claiming he reeked of blood. He grudgingly went to the lake which was only a few dozen feet away. He could see the tent from the water, so it wasn't all that bad, but still he did not want to leave her side.
But after seeing his reflection in the crystal clear lake water, being absolutely drenched in minotaur blood. He didn't blame Will, or the girl who Percy probably scared for the rest of her life. Being in the war, Percy got used to the feeling and smell of blood on him, so he rarely noticed anymore. He eyed the small lake, a large waterfall crashing down, making the crystal clear water ripple from the force. Percy stripped his tunic off, and dove in, the cool water quickly surrounding his body, his pain, and exhaustion almost dissipating in an instant. Percy held onto his sword as he swam, he was tired of getting into fights without one, so he decided to keep it on his person at all times. He swam lower, surprised to see the lake was very deep, it was like a bowl shape, but there was a large circular hole with a statue standing on the edge of, sank deeper into the water. Percy looked at the statue again, the statue had a flowing white dress, that waved in the water, and deep brown hair that floated weightlessly. It wasn't a statue, it was Zoe Nightshade, standing at the edge of the deeper cavern looking up to Percy.
Wanting clothes this time, he turned to swim back up, "Perseus, Poseidon want's a meeting with you," Zoe's voice rang out, as though they were in the same room, and not under water. Percy sighed, bubbles flowing from his mouth, he turned around. "Why do I even bother putting on clothes he thought to himself. He reached Zoe, who's eyes seemed to wander over him, then went wide in shock as she looked down at his waist. "Where did you get that?!" she yelled.
"Born with it," Percy said. "It belongs to someone else."
"Yeah it does, Me!" Zoe said, and snatched at his waist.
"Woah! I'd bet there is...fish better suited for your needs," Percy said.
"No you moron!" Zoe snapped, ripping Riptide from his hands. "This is mine!"
"No!" Percy said. "I found it in some sort of maze!"
"Maze?" Zoe said. "What was at the end?"
"The fucking minotaur!" Percy said. "I found it on some dead dude with his head crushed in."
Zoe's face fell, the deep sadden look in her eyes returning, "Oh..." she said. "He...couldn't have even bothered keeping it..."
"Who, did you know the dead guy?" Percy said.
"No," Zoe said. "It was not the original owner. He must of gave the sword to the dead man you found it on. Keep it, I never want to see it again." Zoe she clicked it, and the bronze sword quickly shrank into a bronze hair clip.
"W-what did you do?" Percy asked, stunned that his sword now went well with his sandals.
"Just unfold this part here, and the sword will return to you," Zoe said, her voice sounding hurt. "It's also bound to you now," she dropped the clip into the deep cavern below them, disappearing in the mucky bottom. After a few seconds, Percy was about to yell at her, when he felt something on his hair. He reached up and felt a metal hair clip firmly tucking his hair still. "Come with me." Zoe put her foot over the cavern hole, then fell, she evaporated into a swarm of bubbles. Percy did the same, falling a few feet before his body fizzed and bubbles surrounding his skin, slightly tickling him. Then with a sudden jolt to his knees, he was standing back in Poseidon's throne room.
"Percy my son!" Poseidon beamed. "I saw you kill the minotaur, beautiful work!"
"How'd you see—'
"Never mind that," Poseidon said. "Another god has asked me for help, and accepted. Now, I need you to go to Kephallonia and retrieve another Demigod. He's in sever danger. "So go now, and save them. So I'll surface you on the shores of Kephallonia, right now—"
"No!" Percy said.
"Excuse me?" Poseidon said, his smile fading.
"I'll save the Demigods, sure," Percy said. "But not until I make sure Annabeth is ok and knows where I'm going. If I survived for twenty years, I'm sure they can last a day or more." Percy said angerly. "But I'm not doing anything for the gods, until I make sure Annabeth is ok. So put me back to the lake, and I will check on her." Poseidon looked him over, his eyes wide in shock from someone talking to a God, even worse, demanding a God.
"Fine," Poseidon said, looking down to Percy's waist. "I see you got my balls, otherwise you'd have never spoken that way to a God." He waved his hand, Percy was encased in a blanket of bubbles, Percy stole a last glimpse of Zoe, who had a blank zoned out sad look on her face.
When the bubbles faded, Percy found himself on top of the waterfall, inches from falling into the lake. "Percy!" a familiar angry voice screamed. He looked down to see an angry Clarisse standing at his crumpled tunic on the ground. Will standing next to her. Percy leaped off the waterfall, doing a full backflip before crashing into the lake with a perfect dive. He gained speed underwater, leaped out of the water and landed in front of Will and Clarisse. "For fuck sake, the snake is out again!" Clarisse said looking away.
"Yes. It. is..." Will said, blushing. Percy rolled his eyes, and took the tunic from Clarisse who was doing everything in her power to stop peaking.
