Poseidon stood there quietly. Everyone but Percy had a shocked and scared face. A soft breeze started to pick up, the soft summer breeze gently lapped at their skin. The fiery sunset kissed the now glassy calm waters of the Aegean Sea. The soft noise of the trees and overgrown grass made the only noise between the group. And Percy came to a realization.
"This will never end, will it?" Percy said.
"No...son," Poseidon choked on his words.
"There's only one way to fix this," Percy said, in a deadly calm voice. Annabeth picked up on it in a heartbeat.
"No Percy!" Annabeth said, the tears already forming.
Percy's jaw clenched, as he was fighting the tears to stay inside. He knew if he turned to Annabeth, there would be no holding back. So keeping his eyes on his father, whom he knew for a short time. "Annabeth... take Will and Nico back on the boat...and go. Go back to your home, and live the rest of your life." His jaw was screaming at him, fighting back each of the words. "Try your best to forget—"
Smack!
Annabeth's hands slapped Percy across the face. Forcing his face from his father, and look to the dying sun that was falling into the ocean, darkness soon coming for him.
"Shut the fuck up!" Annabeth screamed. "I could never forget you! Don't even try and say that!" Annabeth hit Percy again, this time she left a hand print on his face. "If you're staying... so am I." she said, with an equal deadly calm.
"Beth..." Percy said. His face stinging from the pain of her slaps. "You're a smart girl. You know how this is going to end. I don't want you to die here, at all."
"I don't care," Annabeth said. "Yes I know how this will end. But I'm going to stand by your side, and make them regret ever coming for us again. They will learn when they come. Learn to never fuck with Percy and Annabeth Jackson."
Percy let out a soft laugh. "Annabeth Jackson... that would have been nice to hear. But it's to late to be married."
"I can do it," Poseidon said.
"Sir you can marry us too?" Will asked suddenly. Nico's eyes went wide. "Oh yeah, we're not going anywhere either. We're with you till the end." Will smiled, and took Nico's hand.
They quickly set up a spot, at the cliffs edge. Spiked rocks, and rough tides far down below the edge. Poseidon had his back to the sunset, and face Annabeth and Percy, who were being married first. Nico as Bestman, and Will as Bridesmaid. They quickly rushed through the ceremony, Percy and Annabeth kissed. Then quickly swapped for Will and Nico, Percy for Nico and Annabeth for Will. Their ceremony went quickly, and ended with a loving embrace and a kiss.
They were celebrating under the sunset, when Percy noticed that the sunset had lasted way longer than usual.
"I suspect..." Poseidon said. "Apollo knows of your decision, Will."
Will laughed softly. "Sunset is my favorite time of day."
Poseidon took Percy aside later, "Son... they have forbidden me from helping you." he said sadly.
"It's ok, I know you would have if you could," Percy smiled.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't give you a better life," Poseidon said, tears streaking down his grizzled face and down to his black beard.
Percy pulled his dad into a tight hug for the first time in his life. "Just promise me... You'll be there for the next Sons of Poseidon."
"I will... my son...I will..." Poseidon broke, the powerful sea god sobbed into his sons shoulder.
After Poseidon left, back into the sea. Will and Nico left too, to a house a little bit down the road from the Vinyard Annabeth and Percy claimed. Spending whatever time they each had, to play house, and be a married couple. The sunset finally died down, encasing the sky into an ebony black. The stars speckled the sky so much, Percy could hardly keep his eyes from them.
"They've never looked so beautiful," Percy said, as he leaned against their bedroom window, looking out to the night sky. Annabeth came up behind him, and wrapped her arms around his bare stomach, and pressed herself against his back. Her lips found his shoulder, and kissed it. "Second to you of course, my beautiful wife."
Annabeth chuckled, holding her man tightly in her arms for possibly the last time. "You think we can be together in another life?" she said softly.
"Yeah," Percy said. "I'd bet... we'd always find each other, in any life. Over and over again, forever and ever, to each of the stars burn out."
