Hayes pov
Ash and Avery came to school but for different reasons, Avery came so she can hear her name on the announcements but Asher came just because. When they were about to announce his name he hid his face in my chest and I wondered why until they said it "Happy birthday to the twins Asher Myers and Avery Myers!" Then the class erupted "Happy Birthday" "How old are you turning" "When's the party" "Let's sing happy birthday" Asher just smiled awkwardly as everyone asked him questions

Asher's pov
Call me ungrateful but I freaking hate when they announce my name for my birthday because nobody gives a damn about you till one day every year, everybody in the halls say happy birthday and come up to me and some of them hug me but I don't care, if they don't know me until one day then shouldn't know me at all. I get to my locker and all my friends surround my locker, I wonder why so I go over and there's a note and a teddy bear on my locker I immediately think it was either my friends or Hayes but when I read the note I knew it was neither
"Hey Ash happy birthday! I know it's been a while and I went MIA but I'm back and I missed you so much my love 💗"

Everest's pov
We all read the note over Asher's shoulder and I think I know who it is, they didn't sign it but it's only one person that went MIA and calls Asher my love. Its Mason, him and Asher almost dated last year but Keith was still in the picture even though they were already broken up, we all loved Mason but he didn't just ghost Asher, he ghosted the whole friend group and apparently he's back now. We all went to the stair case because he's probably there but Asher didn't come and like we though, he was there.

Mason: Hey guys, did Asher get my present?
All: *nods their heads*
Mason: Where is he?
Everest: The better question is where we're you?!
Mason: I'm sorry I went missing like that but I needed a break
Neil: For a year?
Mason: I didn't mean for it to be that long it just kinda happened
Caleb: What happened with you and Asher though, you kinda just fell out for no reason
Mason: Well he was just coming from a break up and I felt like a rebound

Just then Asher came around the corner and Masons face turned red and he said "Y-you look even prettier than you did last year" which was so cute but I'm team Hayes and Asher for life. Asher and Mason hugged and it's no doubt it would've lasted for a while if Hayes did come out of nowhere and pull Asher away from Mason

Hayes pov
Why do I come back from the vending machine to see my boyfriend hugging a guy while the crew just watches, I pull Asher away from him and observe the guy, he's taller than me and I don't like it.

Hayes: Who are you
Asher: Hayes this is Mason, Mason this is Hayes my boyfriend
Mason: Boyfriend huh?
Hayes: I would say nice to meet you but I don't know if that's true yet
Mason: Likewise
Hayes: Aw that's a cute bear, who got it for you Ash?
Asher: Mason....
Hayes: How do you know each other?
Asher: He-
Mason: Your hands haven't grown at all
Asher: I know, I guess they'll be small forever
Mason: Let's compare them

Asher hesitated to hold out his hand and he looked up at me before he did it, I wasn't planning on intervening but Mason gave me a look before there hands touched so I locked fingers with Asher and held his hand while Mason was visibly getting mad

Asher's pov
I'm in the middle of this situation between my boyfriend and my ex and I can't do a damn thing about them not getting along. Hayes is 6,5 while Mason is 6,6 so I'm intimidated by both of them, my mom says I have a thing for tall boys and it's obvious I do, everyone I've dated has been 6 feet and above while I've been 5,8 since middle school. Anyway the crew is trying die down the situation while Mason and Hayes are clearly not feeling each other
