As soon as everyone finished their plates you excused yourself from the table. All the other princes also got on their feet perhaps feeling the same need to flee from this, what now seemed a cramped, dining room. Of course it wasn't cramped nor small but it certainly felt that way.
Taehyung wanted to follow you when he heard prince Yoongi call out his name. He halted and waited, looking back at the source of the voice who now approached closely.
'What is your deal with y/n?' Yoongi asked Taehyung who was not prepared for this kind of inquisition.
'What?' He replied confused
'I was actually vouching for you and then you leave her? Only to return?' Yoongi rattled on, clearly pissed off.
Great
Yoongi wasn't wrong though, and he had a right to be mad Taehyung supposed, but he didn't want to have a reminder at this time about how he messed things up.
How he had hurt you.
It all seemed so stupid now, he left because he was scared of his feelings?
It was a true fear he couldn't deny that, he felt it in his bones, but he had a way far worse fear now.
Losing you forever
which wasn't even an unthinkable fear after what happened.
Taehyung sighed 'I know and I was a dumbass and I don't know what I could say that justifies it because there are none. I am just happy she didn't kick me out when I came back'
'She should have' Yoongi replied, typically him. but there was a hint of sympathy in a voice
'yes, probably' Taehyung agreed but with a little smile
Yoongi scratched his neck 'I am happy you were here though, when it happened'
The image of your mother flicked through Taehyung's mind again, his blind panic as he ran to your room to intercept your food.
Taehyung swallowed at the memory
'but let's be clear; if you leave her heartbroken again like before I am going to come find you' Yoongi casually threatened
'you can beat me and I wouldn't fight back believe me' Taehyung said
Yoongi gave him a pat on the back
'Give her my love' he simply said to Taehyung, motioning to the hallway leading up to your bedroom.
'I will'
You sat on your bed in silence. A dinner with 6 other men, this was going to be your life now. Socializing with other kings and their princes in case they visited or if you needed to go for a visit.
Why didn't the Royal families bring their daughters?
Well you knew the answer to that.
Unfortunately
Because it was either because the son was a bachelor and considering you now would become an unmarried queen this would be an opportunity for them to wed their son to a queen.
Or the second option was that the son was not a bachelor anymore but was the heir to the throne and these kinds of events, how cruel that must sound, were events in which their son could make connections to other kingdoms and through that strengthen their position.
Both were not for the princesses, unless the princess was the only child; like you were.
For some reason your parents were the exception; the ones that did not produce a male heir at all.
