For the first time in years the Durnab police station was busy except it wasn't busy with regular work. A trainer dressed in a black suit stood in the middle if the room surrounded by a few foreign police officers.
"I am going to ask you one more time Captain , where is Y/n ?" The chief shrugged his shoulders "I don't have to tell you anything ". The trainer rubbed his eyes disgusted at the chiefs loyalty and walked over to the prison cells where two team rocket grunts were sitting dazed out of their minds. "You wouldn't happen to know where this young man is?" The trainer unfolded a picture of what was three young kids smiling and holding a gym badge in their hands.
"That one kid has the same scar on his cheek but he looked a lot different yesterday". The trainer smiled "And where did you see him last ?"
The crowd cheered as the tournaments contestants entered the arena. Silver and I were the last and neither of us made an impact unlike the other contestants.
"Ladies and gentlemen please give a warm welcome to this years S.S Sinnoh tournaments contestants "
The crowd cheered as our opponents began to draw lots deciding their opponents everyone seemed hyped and nervous aside from Silver.
"What's the plan partner ?"
"Let me dumb it down for you, 8 trainers and 8 substitute trainers you and your partner take turns battling you may skip your turn only once and if one trainer loses or retires both of them lose also each trainer has access to only 2 pokemon the whole tournament "
"Seems easy enough I'm guessing we try to cover each others type weaknesses and only show one of our Pokémon unless absolutely necessary that way we are less predictable"
Silver nodded slowly as we walked towards the lot drawing I could tell he was impressed
"Also there is one more sacred rule If one of your Pokémon faints you cannot use it for the entire rest of the tournament which mean you have to carry on with only one Pokémon"
Those rules took me by surprise It was clear the tournament was trying to force us into showing both of our Pokémon to the other contestants making it harder and making it riskier as we moved on Silver had already put my name down last night without my knowledge but I didn't ,mind
"And now the moment you've all been waiting for the Tournaments first round is---"

The crowd cheered as the Sinnoh rock gym leader waved to the crowd but I groaned in annoyance "Not that kid!". Silver raised his eyebrow "Do you know him?" I sighed and gave him my explanation

"Before I quit being a trainer I took on this brats father in the Oreburgh gym and crazy enough I won after a few embarrassing attempts soon after he relocated and Roark took over the mine and gym" I took out my badge case and showed Silver the single shiny badge received from Roarks father.
