Hours turned into days ,days turned into weeks and weeks finally turned into months. The time for training was over and the much awaited event was only a day away. The Pokémon league had named this event 'The challengers duel' a tacky name but it caught on quickly. Television and Radio stations were prepared and figures from all over Sinnoh were present even some foreigners were eager to witness the event.
Cynthia watched from her villa as people lined the streets in celebration. She sighed and gazed at Stark mountain a deep feeling of longing tugged at her heart.
"Everyone loves this areas beauty if only they knew the sacrifices it took to protect it" Cynthia gasped and quickly turned around only to be wrapped in Y/ns embrace.
"Did you miss me?" whispered Y/n.
"mhmmm" mumbled Cynthia squeezing Y/n even tighter.
"I was only a month and a half" he chuckled
"That's a month and a half too long" replied Cynthia pulling away and pouting at Y/n. "Yeah I got a little carried away with training and went ghost ,sorry about that?" Cynthia sighed "Well while you were gone I was focused on making sure what happened 2 months ago stays in the past and fortunately people have moved on from the Oasis incident even the reports of strange memories have settled" Y/ns' eyes darkened.
"So the memory wipe didn't work"
"Not entirely but it worked for the most part" Y/n cracked a small smile.
"You could've asked me to help I don't mind using my power to help you"
"You've done enough for me Y/n, I don't mind pulling my weight " The pair embraced again
"We're a team remember, now get some rest for tomorrow"
"That's easier said then done" murmured Y/n pulling Cynthia to the couch.
"Are you nervous ?"
Y/n chuckled "Not especially, I'm not the boy that lost against you 3 years ago" Cynthia smiled at his response "So what's changed?" "I don't have the fear of failure anymore because why would I fear failure when failure is the reason I've become as strong as I am"
"Show me how strong you've gotten"
8 am the following morning

The stadium was packed and hundreds of fans were cheering and whistling. Aaron was seated on the floor of his side of the arena while the other Elite four members were seated in V.I.P level watching over the battlefield.
"How long has he been waiting ?" asked Cynthia referring to Aaron.
"Since dawn" replied Lucian "He's been extremely eager to meet out challenger for awhile now" Cynthia grinned before joining the commentators on the ground floor.
Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Challengers duel where Sinnoh's finest trainers will face off against a chosen challenger !!.
The crowd roared with excitement as Cynthia's waved and bowed to the audience taking the microphone from the staff. "I Cynthia, your champion and host thank you dearly for attending" The crowd roared in excitement as the moment they've been waiting for was closely arriving.
