The sound of heavy droplets hitting the ground echoed through the arena. Y/n stood at his side of the battlefield listening to the rain. A group of ground and fighting type Pokémon stomped through the arena flattening the battlefield while a group of Slugma followed behind heating up the floor allowing the rain to cool it down.
Y/n stared aimlessly not even noticing his body getting soaked. The sound of footsteps broke him out of his trance "Excuse me , I thought you might need an umbrella" Y/n turned to see Bertha behind him offering him an parasol. Y/n obliged taking shade under the umbrella.
"You seem eager for your next battle" said Bertha offering Y/n a small cloth to wipe his face. "What can I say I'm just that eager to battle Cynthia" he replied wiping his soaked hair.
"Do you desire to become the champion that badly ?" Y/n shrugged his shoulder "The champions title means little to me but I need to face her to achieve my dream" Bertha raised her eyebrow "Dream?"
"My dream is to stand by her side as an equal and together we'll protect this world"
"It seems that dream of yours has had an effect on both yourself and Cynthia, you became stronger to catch up to her and she became stronger and more worthy of a champion because she wanted to feel worthy of your expectations and the expectations of the Sinnoh region"

"Ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the second day of the Challengers duel and I don't know about you but after yesterdays performance I can't wait to see how far Y/n is able to go"
Y/n walked to middle of the arena shaking hands with his opponent Bertha. The elite four and Cynthia watched the trainers with interest. "What're your hopes for this battle ?" asked Lucian to the group. "I doubt he'll win Bertha may be old but her age comes with enough wisdom not to mention Y/n only has a few years of trainer experience"
Meanwhile
"Well, well. You're quite the adorable trainer , but you've also got a spine. Ahaha! I'm Bertha. I have a preference for Pokémon. Well, would you show this old lady how much you've learned?
"May the best trainer win" said Y/n respectfully.

Y/n and bertha took their positions sending out their first Pokémon Whiscash versus Heracross.
"Hera use Mega horn" Hera roared and charged at Whiscash ramming into its belly.
