Fear like many other things is subjective what scares you might not scare someone else and what someone else fears might not scare you but nobody is afraid of nothing and everyone is afraid of something. The thought of being chased of being cornered of being stripped of your ability to fight back that fear always lived in Y/ns mind ever since that fateful day.
A young y/n raced through Eterna forest as a booming sound echoed behind him. Tears rolled down his cheeks as the figure began to close the distance.
CRASHH*
Suddenly the entire bark of a Tree came crashing down behind him he ignored the fear clouding his mind and pressed on. Suddenly through the dense forest a voice rang out.
"Y/n where are youuuuuuu..." the voice began to mock Y/ns suffering as if it had already won. Y/n collapsed to the floor in exhaustion the clouds began to shroud the moon as if protecting the moon from gazing at the sad sight.
A figure walked from the darkness standing beside him was a burly pokemon its broad shoulders steamed with sweat. The man raised his finger "One chance Y/n tell me where she is" Y/n held his breath as the man walked closer to him. He gritted his teeth as the man lowered himself towards him just enough that the feint light coming from behind the clouds made his face barely visible.
"You may leave this forest alive if you just tell me where Nora is"
"My mother...they told me she was dead?!" The man waved his finger "I'm afraid you've been lied to Nora is ever much alive but not for long I'm afraid"
Y/n swallowed his fear ignoring ever sign in his mind telling him to give up. He widened his jaws and snapped on the closest thing to his mouth. The man cried out in pain as Y/n mouth drew blood from his finger. The man's pokemon burst forward instinctively.
"NOW ARK" screamed y/n letting go of the man's finger. A bright flame ignited from the treetops as Y/ns pokemon Monferno pounced onto its opponent blasted a powerful ember igniting the dry grass on the ground. Y/n raced forward as his pokemon leapt onto his shoulders the pair ran at max speed searching for the exit. Zeezee burst out of her pokeball casting attacks in all directions awakening the sleeping forest pokemon. The wild pokemon began to panic as the wild fire spread allowing Y/n to make it to the cliff side.

The fire began to grow as the clouds of smoke circled above making the sky even darker, a light rain pelted around the cliffside as the booming sound returned. Y/n stared at the river dozens of meters below
"Not so fast Y/n" came a voice. The same man returned from the burning forest his pokemon barely harmed.
"Years of planning and copious amounts of resources have the chance of being completely wiped out because of you and you still throw away your chance of survival how pathetic"
Zeezee pounced her jaw poised to strike.
"Conkeldurr use mach punch" in the blink of an eye Zeezees limp body flew back into Y/n knocking him to the floor.
"Grab him!" Conkeldurr leapt forward Monferno tried to intercept but was swiped away. Y/n dangled of the cliff hanging from the pokemons fingers as it grinned in satisfaction.
"Ark take Zeezee and run away !" screamed Y/n his fear of death was only shadowed by his overwhelming love for his pokemon.
"You're so much like her it's sickening, tell me where she's hiding or I'll bend your legs into a ball" Y/n gritted his teeth trying buy more time as Ark regained consciousness.
"Why're you doing this!?" The man smiled from ear to ear as the flames from the forest illuminated his face. "My name is Neer and to put it simply I want it all , everything under the sky I want it to belong to me and for my plan to come to fruition I need all the loose ends to be cut off that includes you and your mother Nora"
Y/n felt his life slowly draining away he closed his eyes accepting his death. "Just tell me where she is and I'll let you live with most of your limbs" Y/n scowled "I told you she's DEAD!!" he yelled just as Ark raced through Conkeldurrs legs punching him in the chin.
"Use ember!" Monferno spat a ball of fire into Conkeldurrs eyes loosening its grip. Neer growled dodging the fire. Y/n grabbed Zeezee "Let's run ARK"
The rain began to pelt harder calming the flames, the forest began to smell of moist ash and burnt wood. Y/n paused as Ark turned its back towards him facing their enemies.
"Ark?" a tear fell down the pokemons face as it yanked y/ns ankle with its tail sending him tumbling down the cliff his body disappearing into the abyss.
"ARKKKKK!!"
The pokemon turned to its opponents and with every last ounce of strength it had it dove into battle for it's friends and for Y/n safety. Y/n knew that Ark wouldn't make it out alive and as he crashed into the river he let himself be carried by the current unsure of whether he even wanted to survive.
"Run away Y/n run as fast as you can and abandon your dreams if I ever see you in my kingdom I'll gut you like a fish!!"
After that fateful day Y/n secluded himself to the lighthouse months maybe even years passed before he felt the spirit of Adventure crawl back into his heart.
Was it the spirit of adventure or maybe it was the thirst for vengeance slowly eating at his heart.
Meanwhile
Neer ascended to his throne once again his legs shaking slightly "I can't do this for much longer I need to secure this region as fast as possible"
A stream of blood flowed from his mouth and nose as he struggled to stay conscious
"Damn that Cynthia I'll make sure all her allies lay witness to her bleeding corpse"
