Yamna
"Yamna?"
I turned, confused at the uncertain voice. "Tahira?"
It was Monday morning, and I was getting coffee and a croissant before heading for my lecture hall.
"Assalam Alaikum." She smiled at me. "I wasn't sure if it was you." She wore slim-fit black trousers, a cream long-sleeved blouse and high-heeled court shoes. Her hair hung in soft waves around her face.
In contrast, I looked like a child in my dark blue jeans, a yellow dress and white trainers, with my pink backpack hanging on my shoulder. "Walaikum Assalam. Yeah, I go to uni nearby. But, isn't this too far for your work?"
"I actually have been taking an extra course at this university, to do with business management." She explained. "It's the morning of my exam." She grinned.
"Good luck." I smiled.
"Thank you." She placed her order, while I took mine from the barista. "You have time to sit and chat for a bit?"
"Sure." I nodded. "I'll find a table." I walked through the mildly crowded café and managed to get a table right by the window.
Tahira came a few moments later and sat down with her coffee. "We didn't really get a chance to chat much on the Nikah day, but you looked really beautiful, Ma Sha Allah. You and Rohaan Bhai make a gorgeous couple, Ma Sha Allah again."
