Rohaan
I woke up in bed alone. I'd hardly slept, only after Fajr, considering the events of last night. But it wasn't the shock of Amira's identity that had kept me awake.
My disorientated mind briefly wondered where Yamna was as I woke up, but then I remembered that she had slept in Haya's former room.
I grabbed my phone to check the time, and instantly saw a message from Yamna.
<Yamna: I'm going to Dado's.>
The fact that she was still telling me about her whereabouts showed her maturity, and increased my self-loathing. I'd ruined her first birthday as my wife, and this was not going to be something that she'd forget easily.
<Rohaan: I'll be there soon.>
I knew that my presence was irrelevant to her right now, but it was her birthday and I wanted to be there with her.
She'd spent every birthday of hers being loved and pampered unconditionally, and this birthday I'd hurt her. Instead of making her feel even more loved and pampered, I had made her cry. I had to make amends. ASAP.

"You are very quiet." Dado commented, looking worriedly at me.
I'd already prepared my excuses on the Uber right over. "Remember I mentioned earlier that we went to Ahmed Bhai's parents' anniversary party last night? It got late by the time we got home, so I'm still feeling sleepy."
That had been my excuse when everyone had questioned Rohaan's whereabouts: he was asleep because we got in late last night. And it wasn't a complete lie. He had been asleep when I'd left to come here.
"Here you go, Sunshine." Mama set down a plate of pancakes in front of me, with maple syrup over them, and strawberries on the side. It was my favourite breakfast, and Mama always made it for me on my birthday.
"Remember what a wonderful weekend we all had when it was yours and Saim's first birthday after marriage, Bhabi?" Papa asked Anabia Mama.
"Yes!" Anabia Mama smiled, dreamily. "Hareem, Josie, Faisal Bhai... everyone celebrated with us. It was a beautiful birthday."
I swallowed hard, suddenly feeling like I had lost my appetite.
"What happened, Yamna? Didn't you like the pancakes?" Mama asked me.
"They're great, Mama." I gave her a weak smile.
But my mother looked concerned.

I was heading towards the kitchen, but stopped when I heard Anabia Mama's voice.
"Rehan, samjhaiyen apne bete ko. Hadd karta hai! He should be here right now." She sounded upset.
*"Rehan, explain to your son. He's the limit!"
"Yaar, kis kis ko kitna samjhaon? Itna to shaadi se pehle samjhaya tha, laikin samajhte nahin hain!" Tayan was clearly frustrated.
*"How much should I explain to them? I lectured them so much before their marriages, but they don't understand!"
"I don't know how to face Yamna... Rehan, I don't know what to do."
