Yamna
My heart was pounding hard as I clicked on the email.
My eyes briefly skimmed through the email at first, zoning in on the key words.
Dear Ms Yasin,
Thank you for attending the interview. After careful consideration, we have decided to offer you a position of a Recruitment Assistant in our New Adult Fiction department.
"Oh my God." I felt like I couldn't breathe. "I got the job?!" My eyes widened and a huge grin appeared on my face.
"Yamna..." Rohaan walked into the room.
With a squeal, I ran up to him, and threw my arms around his neck.
"Whoa!" He laughed, surprised.
As he grabbed my hips, I sort of hoisted myself up to wrap my legs around his waist. "Rohaan..." I nuzzled my nose against his neck, breathing in his scent. Placing my hands on his cheeks, I stared at him. "I got the job."
"What?" He grinned. "Seriously?"
"I got the job!" I kissed him, my excitement level on an all-time high.
He kissed me back, and for a while we remained like that. We pulled apart a few moments later, and I pressed my forehead against his as we breathed hard.
"I'm so happy for you, and so proud of you, Yamna."
I slid down onto the ground, but we kept our arms around each other. "I can't believe this! This seems like a dream."
"I believe it. You deserve it." He leaned down and kissed me again.
I looked up at him, gripping his biceps. "I love you. I have loved you for a long time."
A corner of his mouth lifted up in a smile. "I thought you hated me."
"I never hated you. Despite the teasing and pranking, you always had my back. You always took care of me. You and Haya Appi stood up for me when I was being bullied." My eyes filled up as I rested my head against his chest, wrapping my arms around his waist. "You've always supported me and encouraged me, Rohaan. And it was your support and encouragement that got me to go and do this presentation. Otherwise, I would have backed out the moment I'd heard the word 'presentation'."
"You need to give yourself some credit, yaar. Clearly you had it in you, that's why you managed to do it." He kissed the top of my head.
I nuzzled my nose against his chest. "You are my favourite person." I repeated what I had said to him a long time ago.
"And you're mine." Again, he leaned down to kiss me. "So damn proud of you, Yamna."
I smiled even as I kissed him back.

We had decided to take mithai later to Dado's house, and tell everyone there.
But before that, I had someone else to thank.
"Arsal Bhai?" I found him in Tayan's former study, putting his laptop in his laptop bag, all ready to go to work.
"Yes, Yamna?"
"I got the job." I told him, softly. "And now I'm going to prove that I got it on my own basis."
