Rohaan
The gunshot almost made my heart stop. "Papa!"
But my father was okay. It was the second attacker who had been shot, lying on his back on the ground.
I raced to help Papa up. "You okay, Boss Man?"
My face throbbed and I felt blood on it, but I didn't care. Right now Papa was my sole concern.
A man stepped into my vision, a grim expression on his face. "You guys okay?" He pocketed his gun.
"We are, but these b*****ds won't be." I lunged for the man who had attacked me.
"The police are on their way, don't worry." The man reassured me calmly.
"You okay?" I asked Papa.
He nodded, wincing a little. "I'm fine. You?"
The gate flew open and Mama rushed out. "What is going on?!" She gasped in horror as she saw the scene.
The first man, got up and stumbled towards her with a low growl.
"You f**king dare and I will end you." I threw myself at the man, both of us tumbling down the slope that led up to the gate of my maternal grandparents' house.
"Rohaan!" Mama screamed, as Papa took her in his arms.
I repeatedly punched the man, until someone pulled me off him. It was the same man who had shot the second guy.
"Let the police handle it, buddy." The man said.
"I'm also in the police in a whole different country." I growled, giving the attacker a kick.
"Rohaan!" Mamu ran past my parents and came towards me. "Relax, buddy."
I turned to the man who had basically saved my father's life. "Thank you." I held out my hand as I saw the police cars approach.
"It's my duty. I'm Zaid Zafar, homicide detective. I live nearby." He explained.
"Rohaan Rehan Tariq. Your colleague, basically, from London." I said.
"Wait..." Papa walked up to us. "The man mentioned something about having signed the papers, and that the property is now theirs." He wrapped an arm around my shoulders as he spoke to Mr Zafar.
"The on-duty police would want your statements." Mr Zafar nodded. "Excuse me, gentlemen, let me speak to the police." He walked away.
"Rohaan." Bursting into tears, Mama came up to me. She placed her hands gently on my face. "Look what they did to you!"
"I'm fine, Mama. Don't worry." I spoke, quietly. "Let me get the car inside."
"Mera bacha." Mama pulled me closer and kissed both my cheeks like I was a kid or something.
"Rohaan..." A timid, scared voice made me turn.
Yamna was standing at the gate, her eyes wide, a tear running down her cheek.
I kissed my mother's hands, before turning to stride towards my wife. "Yamna, I'm okay."
She threw her arms around me, sobbing. "Are you and Tayan okay?"
"We're fine. Alhumdulillah. Don't worry." I caressed the back of her head.
"Rohaan, what happened?" Chachi, who was right behind Yamna, asked softly.
