Rohaan

I was on my laptop, doing some work (yes, even during my paternity leave), and Biya was on the bed beside me.

Yamna had gone for her appointment, a regular check-up after childbirth, and then after that Hoor was going to take her for massage and hair trimming, just to help her get some time to herself for a while.

Biya had been fed and changed before Yamna had left, and was peacefully asleep, wrapped up in her blanket.

A message popped up in the corner of my laptop screen.

**Shayaan: Dark Warfare?**

I fought the urge to immediately accept. I had to get this work done before Lucinda or someone kicked my a*s.

**Rohaan: In a bit.**

**Shayaan: Define 'bit'.**

**Rohaan: What are you, my mother?**

**Rohaan: Besides, I have Biya with me. I can't have war, violent games or my swearing around her.**

**Shayaan: You've become such a Dad, Ro. And you used to roll your eyes every time your own dad acted overprotective.**

**Rohaan: I still do. 😂**

I glanced towards Rabiya.

**Rohaan: Half an hour. I'll put the headphones on.**

**Shayaan: Also a tape on your mouth to muffle the swearing.**

**Rohaan: Visualise in your head the middle finger that I'm directing towards you.**

I saved my work, put my headphones on and started playing the violent game on my laptop. Shayaan joined me as well, and I lost track of time. It was only when I sensed movement from the corner of my eye that I got distracted from the game.

Biya was awake and had her little fist pressed against her mouth.

I ended the game immediately, shutting my laptop down and placing it on the bedside table. Lying down on my side next to Biya, I propped myself up on one elbow, smiling at her. "Good nap, Sleeping Beauty?"

Her eyes found me, and she made a little gurgling sound, her hand uncurling from the fist. I kissed her tiny palm, before placing it over my cheek. Leaning down, I kissed her cheek. My ultimate weakness. "Come on, baby Biya. Let's take you for a walk. It's a nice sunny day today."

Wearing my black vest and black sports trousers, I adjusted Rabiya in the baby sling against my chest, before putting on my airpods and headed out.

"I'm taking Biya out for a walk." I told Mama, who sat in the living room reading a book.

She smiled at the sight of Biya in a sling against me. "Aww, Rabiya's first outing with Papa, huh?"

I cradled the back of Biya's head with my hand. "We won't be out long."

"Take care." My mother said.

The Tariq family home was located in a quiet and peaceful area, closer to the countryside than to the city of London. The air was fresh, and it was a warm day, perfect for a walk with Biya.
