Hooriya Appi wouldn't stop crying as she held her baby daughter tightly against her chest.
"Appi, you're okay now. You're safe." I tried to reassure her, but she was in a state of shock and distress. "The important thing is that you and Hoorain are safe, right?"
Lucinda approached us, placing a hand on Rohaan's sister's shoulder. "Hooriya, everything is okay now. The locals managed to restrain and capture the guy. He's in police custody."
"Hoor!"
I looked up and saw my best friend rushing over to where we sat by my desk at the police station.

Rohaan
"Hoor!" My heart had been constantly pounding too hard since Hoor had called me.
I saw her sitting by Ahmed's desk, clutching onto Annie. She looked okay, apart from the fact that she was crying endlessly.
She looked up when she heard my voice. "Ro! Ro, he... he wanted to kidnap my Ain. Ro..."
I crouched down in front of her. "Hoor, you're okay. Hey, look at me. You're safe."
While my sister cried her eyes out, Annie, my sweetheart, my jaan, slept peacefully in her mother's arms.
"They got the guy, bro." Ahmed told me. "Twat with an IQ of a peanut shell did this in broad daylight on a busy street, so people caught him."
I gently took Annie in my arms. "Hey, baby girl. You saw some Mamu-level excitement today, didn't you?" I kissed both her cheeks, holding her close against myself in one arm, before I held out my other arm for my sister. "Come on, Hoor. I'll take you home." I glanced towards Lucinda, and smiled gratefully at her. Ahmed had told me that Lucinda had looked after Hoor and Annie immediately after the incident.
Hoor stood up and I wrapped my arm around her shoulders. My sister leaned against me for support.
"Ro." She whispered. "I called Farhaan, but don't tell Mama and Papa."
"Hoor, how can I keep this from them?"
"Please, let's just keep this amongst us." Hoor looked up at me, pleadingly.
I sighed. "Fine. For now." I looked at my colleagues. "I'm going to drop my sister and niece off, and then I'm coming right back. I want to see who this f**ker is, who dared mess with my sister and her baby."
"Take care, Hooriya." Lucinda gave her a warm smile. "You and your little one are both safe now. Remember that."
"You did the right thing by calling Ro." Ahmed added.
I had been too far away, so I had called Ahmed instead. He and Lucinda had rushed over to where Hoor was.
I had no idea how I had managed to drive all the way back here, knowing that my sister was in trouble. Yes, I had always been closer to Behaya. And with Arsal, it had been the usual brotherly banter and arguing.
