Rohaan
My nephews and niece dragged me to the park as 'a punishment for being away too long'. My siblings came along, with little Annie in her pushchair.
"GOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!" Arham shouted.
"That's not the goal, you noodle brain." Ali scoffed.
"Hey! What's with the trash talk?" I feigned a frown. "Play nice or no more football."
"When Rohaan is telling people off, you know the world has changed." Behaya commented as she sat on a bench beside Hoor, who held Annie in her arms.
Hoor moved sideways and patted the bench between herself and Haya. "Sit."
"Oh s**t. You two are interrogating me, aren't you?" I sat down between my sisters.
"Language." Behaya pinched my forearm.
Arsal was by the swings a short distance away, watching over Maham as she played on the slides and swings. Meanwhile, Arham and Ali were playing football right in front of us.
I took Annie in my arms, leaning down to kiss her forehead, before holding her close against my chest.
"So... how was the trip?" Behaya asked me in a light, teasing tone.
"Amazing... because I was a whole continent away from you." I grinned at him.
"Is Yamna doing better?" Hoor asked.
I sighed. "She's definitely better than she was when we went there."
Annie rested her little fist against my chest.
"Punching Mamu, huh?" I teased her, kissing her fist. "Definitely like Behaya Khalla."
"Rohaan!" Both my sisters said in unison; Haya sounded annoyed, while Hoor spoke wearily.
I chuckled.
Arsal and Maham walked back to us, and our little brother looked at Haya. "Haya Appi, Maham has a request."
"What is it?" Haya looked at her daughter. "Maham, jaan, your requests seem to increase around your Mamus and Khalla."
"So? Khallas and Mamus exist to pamper." Hoor held out her arms for Maham, who raced up to her to hug her.
"Remember your words, Hoor." Haya smiled, shaking her head. "Don't moan when I spoil Ali and Ain."
"I want ice cream!" Maham whispered, looking up at Hoor.
"Check with Mama, honey." Hoor kissed her cheek.
Maham pouted pleadingly at her mother, making me chuckle.
"I'm not your Mamu, Khalla, Nano or Nana. That doesn't work on me." Haya told her.
I looked at her, lowering my voice. "Are you really going to break a little girl's heart?"
Haya rolled her eyes. "Fine, Maham. You all can get ice cream."
"Come on, Ro Mamu! Race me to the ice cream van!" Maham looked at me now.
I kissed Annie's forehead again. "I'll be right back, Annie." Handing her to Hoor, I stood up. "Let's go, Maham."
"We'll race you too!" Arham told Maham.
"No!" Maham shook her head.
"Chicken!" Ali started making clucking noises.
"Maham isn't a chicken. She's a detective." I told my nephews. "On the count of three, let's go. One...Two...Three..."
