(Ominis' Perspective)After our trip to Ambrose City, we returned to Gaunt Manor. Helena had said her goodbyes to her mother and family, leaving behind the address of the Manor. Before we left, I noticed her whispering something to Evander in the corridor. I couldn't make out the words, but when they emerged together, I knew they had shared something meant for private ears. No doubt it had to do with that kiss... it had to be.
I tossed my backpack in the entrance hall and hung my winter coat on the rack. It was significantly warmer here than in Scotland—a welcome contrast.
Helena headed straight for the living room and sank onto the sofa with a soft chuckle.
"Are you alright?" I asked, sitting beside her.
"I just don't understand this whole situation," she sighed. "What was she thinking—making me so angry, then suddenly admitting she's my mother? She could've told me yesterday..."
She placed her hand gently on my leg and gave it a small squeeze.
"I'm sorry about our fight yesterday. I know you were just trying to protect me from Evan. But you don't have to worry about him. He's a good man."
I slid her hand off.
"As for your mother... I do understand her. With a dangerous partner and a daughter to protect, pushing you away might've felt like her only option."
I stood and walked to the fireplace.
"And about Evander... yes, I was protecting you. Because you don't know him. And because I was jealous. He has what I can't offer—sight, a warm heart, special magic... healing powers. Even his brothers say he's devastatingly handsome."
I turned to face her, the fire casting shadows on the wall behind me.
"I heard you call him your soulmate, Helena. You do know that soulmates are bound—lifelong, eternal. Yin and yang. They're like mirrors—meant to show us something, often from another life. I've already met mine... and she taught me how to move on from my own pain. So please, tell me—what were you two whispering about this morning?"
Silence. I could hear her soft breathing behind me.
"I... Ominis, I can't tell you."
I nodded, heart sinking. "I get it. You found your family, your soulmate. But please, don't keep secrets from me. I always find out eventually. I'll be here when you're ready to talk—about anything."

I sat outside with my father in the backyard. A book in each of our hands, coffee by our sides. I was reading a historical novel, and he had a thick archaeology volume on Salazar Slytherin heirlooms.
Helena had left earlier to wander the forest. She said she needed space to practise magic and clear her thoughts. I gave it to her—like a gentleman. But she still hadn't told me what happened in that hallway, or about the kiss.
*Was it about her family? The kiss? Him? Me? Or something deeper—her magic?*
I slammed my book shut.
"Father, can I ask your advice—man to man?"
He grunted a low "Hmm?" as he flipped a page.
"Helena met someone in Ambrose City. He lives with her family. He has the same kind of ancient magic she does. And there's... chemistry. They kissed. This morning."
He barely looked up. "Isn't it good that she's found someone who understands her magic? She's searching for answers. Now she might have them."
I stood. "But she's keeping things from me. She barely knows him—two days! And yet—he kissed her and... I can't stop thinking about it."
