(Sebastian perspective)

I was back at the Three Broomsticks and watched as Anne kissed the black-haired man Helena had been dancing with. Without thinking, I grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the door.

"Come with me."

Anne stopped and stomped her foot on the floor.
"No! Don't ruin my evening, Sebbie. I'm having such a good time."

I nodded toward Poppy, Natty, and Imelda.
"Ladies, go home. It's late."

Before Anne could argue again, I grabbed her by the upper arm and apparated us straight to Feldcroft.

She stormed into the house.
"Why do you always ruin the nice things, Sebastian?!"

I followed her in and slammed the door shut behind me. I tossed her pajamas at her from the dresser, right into her face.

"Bedtime, Sallow," I said firmly, turning around so she could change. Arms folded, I waited.

A beat of silence.
"Did you kiss her?" she asked again, for the second time that night.

"Anne! This is not the time to talk about that," I snapped.

I heard her bed creak, and when I turned around, she was tucked under the blanket. I grabbed her medicine and a glass of water from the kitchen, handing it to her.

"I just want to see you happy, Seb," she said softly, taking her dose.

"I am happy," I replied, frowning.

"No, you're not..." she murmured, yawning.

I ran a hand gently through her hair.
"Why not, Inspector?"

She looked at me, eyes drooping.
"Because of her..."

Her voice faded as she muttered,
"You. have. to. fight. for. her."

I returned to Gaunt Manor and paused outside Helena's door. I could hear her breathing heavily in her sleep.

Back in my own room, I stripped down and lay in bed in nothing but my underwear.

What a reckless night.

I tried to sleep, but couldn't. I stared at the ceiling, then out the window. I thought about what Anne said. She was right.

I wasn't happy.

Eventually, my eyes grew heavy. The silence was comforting.

A scream startled me awake.

I jumped up, pulled my oversized sweater over my head, and ran into the hallway. The screams were coming from Helena's room.

I burst through the door and found her thrashing in her bed, drenched in sweat.

"No no no no no!" she cried out.
"Please don't!"

She was trapped in a nightmare. One I could tell was deeply real. I knew the feeling too well.

I sat down at the edge of her bed.
"Helena... stop. Wake up."
"Helena, please."

She kept screaming.

I gently grabbed her arms and shook her.
"Sweetheart..."

"SEBASTIAN NO!" she screamed.

She was dreaming about me.

A lump rose in my throat. I tapped her cheek, voice low.
"Helena."

Her eyes flew open. She bolted upright, clutching her hair.
"NOOO!"
