(Helena's perspective)Agatha whistled again, and a blood-red dragon appeared, bursting through the clouds. This one was massive, its wings cast a shadow across the rocky clearing. It landed gracefully on a rock opposite Dalours, its scales shimmering like molten fire.
She bowed to it, and the dragon bowed back.
"This is Drathena," she said proudly. "A female Peruvian Vipertooth. I found her near a volcano in Peru. Her wing was crushed under a pile of scorching stone. I had to heal her for hours before we could fly away."
Sebastian stepped forward, eyes locked on the dragon. He slowly extended a hand and petted her nose.
"She's magnificent," he said in awe, his fingers tracing along her jaw and down her back. "Her skin feels rough... is she still hurt?"
"It's from the lava burns. Scars I couldn't heal," Agatha explained. "But she's strong. Healthy."
Ominis turned to me with a glint in his eye. "Do you want to ride a dragon, love?"
My eyes widened. "Is that actually possible?" I looked over at Agatha.
She smiled warmly. "Of course! Want to ride Drathena?"
"Yes, yes, I'd love to!" I nearly burst from happiness.
Agatha gave me a quick rundown on how to ride. I climbed onto Drathena's back, clutching the handle tightly. Sebastian hopped up behind me, arms tense.
"Are you sure this is safe?" he asked warily.
"Stop worrying, Sallow. It's a dragon," I laughed.
Agatha handed me the straps. "You know the words. If you want to come back, just whistle."
Ominis smiled at me and blew a kiss into the air. "Fly, my bird. Spread your wings."
I looked back at Sebastian. "You ready?"
He didn't sound too sure. "I guess..."
I gripped the straps and shouted, "MONTER!"
Drathena launched from the rock with a powerful thrust of her wings, lifting us into the sky. Wind rushed past as we soared higher and higher.
"VOLER!" I yelled, and the dragon shot through the clouds.
We flew over trees and past other dragons, dipping between mountain peaks. The air was crisp, the stars shimmering above us.
I laughed, unable to stop the tears. "Wooooh! This is amazing!"
Sebastian's laughter echoed behind me. "Yesss!"
Next to us, Dalours flew with Agatha and Ominis on his back.
"See? This is fun!" Agatha shouted. Ominis gave a relaxed smile.
"DRATHENA, MONTER!" I called again, and she rose above the clouds. We glided in the open sky, stars twinkling above us and the moon casting silver light below.
I spread my arms out like wings. I wanted to fly. I needed to.
"I feel so alive," I said, loud enough for Sebastian to hear.
"I can see that," he replied. "The stars are so pretty tonight."
"They are," I said softly.
Sebastian slid closer behind me, his hand resting gently over mine. "I'm glad to see you happy, Helena."
I didn't move. I let him hold my hand. Just this once. I needed someone beside me in that moment.
I shifted slightly, lacing my fingers through his. "I'm glad you're here with me, Sebastian."
