The next few hours I stayed in that position with her head on my arm, she was also holding onto my hand as she slept

Cabir's message pops up on my laptop letting me know he is coming up to the room

'Get another key from the receptionist' I reply

'Why?' He texts

'Because I said so'

'Asshole' I chuckle seeing his text

Cabir and I are like twins but not blood related, him and I were in a class together in middle school, ever since then neither one of us has been apart. We got an apartment together after high school and he to this day lives with me.

When he got married to navya, who by the way is a sweetheart, I told him to get his own house, not because I wanted to kick him out but just for privacy but him and navya were both adamant about staying with me and I love that

I have been so alone for a long time and having the two around is so comforting and nice. They are my only family.

The door wiggles making me look up, he grins coming in but as soon as he sees nandini sleeping on my shoulder his grin turns into a smirk

"Oh la la" he whispers

"Don't you fucking dare cabir, it's not what it looks like" I defend

"Right, of course because you've let a handful od girls just lay on you like she is right?"

"the fuck? No"

"Exactly, and that is very special" he says sitting on the bed in front of me

He grabs the laptop from my lap and just stares at me but it wasn't just a random stare, his stare was lingering and full of questions, tons of them

"she is unique, different, sweet, a firecracker too but the innocence she carries is insane. She isn't like any of the girls I have ever met, she is also not someone who plays with emotions, nor does she ever look at you like she is admiring your money"

"And why am I hearing this right now?"

"because I think that the darkness you are surrounded by isn't going to stay anymore. I think we may have found someone who can fill your life with that light that navya and I were trying to do"

"Cabir shut up, stop trying to make me believe it isn't going to happen"

"That's the thing manik, I didn't think id ever find a girl that is her" he says pointing at Nandini's sleeping figure

"Shut up just stop and since you are here get her off me" I say

"Shh quiet, she is sleeping" he says caressing her hair

That apparently does something because she flinches right before her eyes flicker open, she looked scared until she looked at cabir

"Cabu" she whispers

Her voice barely audible

"Hi kid, how are you feeling?" He asks as if he didn't notice her flinch

"Good, you bring me nice candy?" She asks rubbing her throat

"Oh I sure did but the thing is you are sick kiddo so I cannot give you candy"

she frowns looking at me as if I'd help

"Manik you help" she asks

For a second I forget how stuck up of an ass I am but as soon as I realize I am about to smile I stop
