So it's a double update after all
.......MALAK'S POV
Here's the thing about mumbling stupid nonsense when you're half asleep, you wake up to remember 70 to 80 percent of it. I was mortified when I woke up the next morning after that encounter with Na'eem. He teased me all day for calling him handsome and every time I remember that he kinda helped me put on my PJs, I choke! I tell you, the absolute most embarrassing day of my life. And it had to be with him of all people....great! I have such good luck....I hope y'all heard the large sacarsm thrown in that sentence.
Anyways, that's three weeks ago so I might as well forget about that and move on.The last three weeks were okay. Na'eem literally forced me to show him my schedule so I now have a driver that takes me to the academy and bring me back home every time, no Ubers. We're not arguing much now and it's probably because I told him to fuck off two weeks ago and he's doing a real good job at ignoring me. Apart from the good morning, how was today? and goodnight conversations, we never talk. Unless Nadeen decides to include me in their conversation which is now beginning to happen more often.
Being with Nadeen has been the best part of the last few weeks. We watch the TV together, play with Lulu in the garden, get her ready for school or Islamiyya if I'm not at the academy, help with her assignments and Ayah memorisation even though we swap days with Na'eem on that and eat together. Or more like I watch her eat while I force down enough to prevent me from starving. Being Anorexic is so depressing.
And then the academy, it's still a dream come true and every single time I step my foot into that building there's this overwhelming happiness. I and Ria have met a few times mostly at the cafeteria and even exchanged phone numbers. Hanan, the girl who have the space beside mine at the studio is pretty nice too. Work have started to pile up though and I have to start staying back sometime so I could finish my work since I don't have a studio in the house.
Just as I dropped my tote bag on the kitchen counter and make my way to get a bottle of water from the fridge, my phone starts to ring. Fadul is on the line. We talk almost everyday now because her internship/housemanship with my brother around is not something she's pretty much happy about and she calls almost everyday to bitch about it.
"Yes Fadul? How's today?" I ask as I take a huge gulp. "You just got back?" She raised her brows. "Yep" I nod. "Had to stay back and finish some work since I don't have a space to do it here" I shrug and she nods in understanding. "Where are you?" I ask because that doesn't look like the interns break room in the emergency department that she have been face timing me from for the past weeks and she looked around before looking back at me.
"Yeah...... forget about that. My break is going to end in like 34 minutes so I have to be fast about it" she says as she glances at her wristwatch. "Go on" I nod.
"This isn't the interns break room, I just broke into an empty one, but does Ya Imran works in emerg?" She ask. "Yeah, he works there when there isn't a skull he needs to open, and that doesn't happen often so he's in between the departments" I explain and she sigh.
"Shit" she muttered after a while. "What is it Fadul?" I raise my eyebrows. "A bunch of interns were assigned to work with him for as long as the chief wants before a rotation and I'm one of them" she muttered and before I could process the information and give an answer, the door to the room Fadul is suddenly opened revealing you know who.
"Fadul?" He calls. "Hi" she turned fidgeting as she gives a small wave. "You're in the wrong room" he says and she was quiet for a while before she finally snapped back to reality. "Oh yeah, um....I just um, came into the empty room I could find to take a call, but I'm headed to the cafeteria now to get some lunch" There was a large release of breath at the end and I couldn't help but laugh. "Hi Ya Imran" I wave and he raise his brows as he looks at the screen he didn't notice since he came in. "Hello" he replies wryly and I try to stiffle another laugh.
