Double update yayyy!
MALAK'S POV
Things at the academy are getting crazier. They're going to invite critiques and external supervisors to screen out our works for the exhibition and trying to finalise the graduation guest list all at the same time.
The professors are done being lenient with us as they condemn any work they don't like and give no room for mistakes.
We're also taking the theoretical tests now before moving on with the most important aspect. It's wild and busy but I love it. I signed up for this and while I might not be the best student in my class, I sure am part of those that don't have to redo their works every time. Once or twice, yes. But that's just it.
I actually forgot to have anything apart from the coffee Na'eem made for me this morning because I was too swamped to do so and I don't really like the food at the Cafeteria. Not that it's not nice, I just find it hard to eat in public spaces.
I didn't even say bye to all my classmates before I'm out of the door with another cup of coffee I ordered across the street ready to go home and enjoy whatever it is that Raliya cooked for lunch.
"Whoops, sorry" I apologise before looking up at the person I just bumped into. What the actual fuck? What is she doing here? "Clumsy as always" Haifa tsked and I raise my brows at her.
"I'm here for a single conversation Malak, nothing too much" She smiles at me and I shake my head with a sigh, side stepping her. "You don't want to hear?" She calls still standing where I left her.
"Not interested" I reply. "Even if it has to do with the contract binding your marriage?" She asks and I immediately turned around. "Aww see how that instantly caught your attention" she mocks with a pout.
"I have no idea what you're talking about" I try to remain as calm as ever. "And yet you turned" she smile. "Normal human reaction" I shrug. "Normal guilty human reaction" she corrects.
"I'm not ready for this" I roll my eyes turning away again. "No you're not. Let's see how the elders will react to this" she says. "What are you talking about Haifa? Kina shan kwaya ne?" I snap, this time fuming when I turned.
She showed me her phone and that's when I see it, the picture of the contract I insisted on having before getting married. How the hell did she get a hold of it? Oh I'm screwed.
"What's this nonsense?" I ask motioning at her phone. "Ask the question again when you hear a summon from your in-laws" she shrugs. "Great!" I manage to mutter with the littlest composure I fought to hold on to then turn away and head to the car.
"We're going to the firm" I say to the driver immediately I settled into the back seat. I see the confusion in his eyes because I've only visited Fadul, Zulayha, Huda and few times Ya Imran from the academy, otherwise it's home. I've never asked to go to Na'eem's office yet he only nodded and drove me there.
The woman at the front desk won't let me through, of course she won't. She probably doesn't even know me, I can't just barge in and demand to see the boss without a reservation. Doesn't happen that way.
I tried calling Na'eem's phone more times than I can count and it all goes straight to voicemail.
"Listen, just get me to talk to his assistant or something, I won't take long" I say to the lady and she sighs looking up from her computer clearly irritated at me for constantly interrupting her for almost an hour now.
"That's not how we take cases here ma'am. We book an appointment. And unless you're a VIP client which I know you aren't because we don't have your name here in the list you can't see Mr Tafida" she said pointedly. I sigh as I dial his phone number again but same result, it went straight to voicemail.
