Chapter 16

-soap's Pov-

I was worried about Ghost. He hadn't been spotted in quite a few hours. My mind was racing of all the possibilities that could have happened. My breathing became shallow and irregular. Anxiety crept in and I started to bite my finger nails.

He's not usually out this long. I started to consider making Price aware that Ghost was possibly missing. I paced up and down my room.

At 1857 hrs I grabbed Ghost's hoodie and went to find price. I walked out of the accomodation block and headed towards the offices. I opened the door and ran past a group of people.

I banged on price's office door. "Price open the fuckin door it's an emergency!" I shouted. I waited a few minutes before hearing the sound of footsteps. The door swung open and I stared straight into Price's eyes.

"Ghost has been gone way too long. He said he was only going for a short walk to clear his head but that was at six o'clock this morning" I said a sense of urgency in my voice. Price gestured for me to enter and I walked in.

His office was just the basic military standard office, small room with a desk near the window that overlooked the base a cabinet at the wall, a few pictures of jet's and military stuff. In his desk he had a picture of the task force.

"Okay so what happened?" Price asked sitting in his chair and gestures for me to sit in the chair opposite his desk. I sat down and sighed. "This morning Ghost had a flashback to his past and I tried to calm him down but he was pretty shaken up. So he said he would go for a short walk to clear his head but he said that at six o'clock this morning and still hasn't returned and I'm worried about him." I replied biting my nails.

Price looked out of the window and sighed. "I'll send out a search party for him." He said calmly. I tried to keep my breathing under control my hands were shaking like hell "thank you captain" I said getting up and leaving the office.

I sat in the training room. Watching the recruits train. A tear trickled down my face. Where was he?

"Okay everyone gets to your quarters!! The curfew is in an hour!!" I called out before leaving to go to my quarters.

As I got to my room I grabbed my earphones and listened to music. I walked to my wardrobe and grabbed some pyjamas and took my uniform off. I put my Scottish patterned pj bottoms on and a white oversized shirt on then put Ghost's hoodie back on.
His hoodie was too big for me but I didn't mind. It smelled of him.

I climbed into bed. I listened to a song called A little death it was one of the songs I had caught Ghost listening to. I just want something that reminded me of Ghost.

The song then switched to a Scottish song but I switched it back to the previous song and put it on repeat.

I fell into an uneasy sleep.

I was in a forest. How did I end up here? I walked around the leaves crunching under foot.

I heard a scream in the distance and I started to run. I kept running but I didn't seem to be getting any closer to the screams. I sprinted until I was exhausted. "Johnny!!" I heard the scream again. "Ghost!!" I shouted back sprinting again.

I fell into a pit in the ground. Then I saw him covered in blood. "Ghost!" I screamed kneeling at his side and shaking him. His body was cold and lifeless.

"Ghost! Wake up! Please! I need you!" I screamed tears streaming down my face "I love you! Don't leave me!! I can't live without you! You are my everything!!" I kept begging for him to wake up but his body stayed lifeless and unmoving.

I cried and cried and cried. Begging for him to wake up. "Don't die on me! Please" I screamed.

I screamed at the heavens "why!! Why did you have to take him from me! What did I ever do to you!!" I punched the dirt under me then I hugged Ghost's lifeless body.

I woke up in a cold sweat. It was just a nightmare. It wasn't real. But it felt real. Tears streamed down my face as I curled up. The longer it took to find him the more worried I became.

I brought the duvet to my chin and cried until I had no more tears left to cry. I just want him back that's all I wanted. I want my best friend back. I want my soulmate back.

I had been awake for hours and it wasn't even time to get up. I messaged Gaz. I just needed someone.

I heard a knock on my door. "Come in." I said dully. Gaz walked in and sat on the edge of my bed. I kept my head down. "Soap... you okay? We'll find him we just need to figure out where he went we have the whole base looking for him." Gaz said kindly.

I opened my arms and he knew what I wanted so he moved in closer and hugged me. "Do you want me to hug you all night?" He asked and I nodded. He laid next to me and cuddled me as I fell asleep again.

I woke up and saw that Gaz had fallen asleep cuddling me. I smiled. I pulled him closer. It felt wrong but I needed comfort.

I buried my face into his shoulder. I felt guilty for doing this. "Please don't tell Ghost...I feel like I shouldn't be doing this but I need the comfort..." I whispered. Gaz mumbled something that sounded like "okay".

Gaz woke up and pulled me close. "You good?" He asked, stroking my hair like Ghost would. He was trying to comfort me how he thought Ghost would.

"Yeah...I just miss him" I whispered softly "I can't help but think something bad happened to him. I had this nightmare last night where I found him in a pit dead." Gaz nodded sadly understanding why I was so shook up last night. "I understand. I'm here for you." He whispered back "also about what happened last time...I didn't mean to walk in I wasn't aware you were getting frisky with Ghost. And I was just trying to follow the rules. But Price has now changed the rules so it doesn't matter now" I looked up at him and smiled "apology accepted. Sorry for being so loud we thought everyone was out training." I whispered.

I stayed with Gaz the whole day. We were helping with the search for Ghost. We walked through the forest near the edge of the base. We were all armed with weapons in case it wasn't the case of him wandering off.

I looked towards Gaz "you found anything?" I asked. "Nothing yet!" He called back. We kept walking I ducked under a low hanging branch and Carried on walking. I crawled under a fallen tree.

I sighed. I looked at the floor and saw a pool of blood. No no no it can't be his! "GAZ I FOUND SOMETHING AND IT'S NOT PROMISING!!" I shouted through the forest and I heard someone running towards me. Gaz ran towards me "what is it!" He asked and I pointed to the blood. "Take a sample and take it to the labs to see if it's his." I commanded, Gaz nodded and took a sample and started to run to the labs.

I carried on my search until it became dark so I made my way back to the buildings. We were one step closer to finding him.

I made my way to my quarters. And opened my door and flopped onto my bed. We're getting closer to finding him.

I heard the sound of birds outside and a bang on my door. I got up and opened the door to see Gaz standing at my door. "Gaz what's happening?" I asked sleepily. "The blood you found in the forest was Ghost's...and it's been declared he isn't on the base... he's been captured" Gaz said sounding grim.

My heart dropped to my stomach and I started to feel sick. Captured. He had been captured. We were getting closer now I felt like we were going backwards.

"Do we know who took him?" I asked trying to keep my voice steady. "We looked at the CCTV footage and it seems like shadow company took him" Gaz replied showing me a picture that was taken from the CCTV footage.

I nodded my head in understanding. Now I was determined to find him before it was too late.

I would find him even if it's the last thing I do.
