CHAPTER 49 Preparation

**ZOE’S POV**

“Hey sasama ka ba sa’min?” I called Rence.

(Uhm, yeah? Dito ka-yah kayo sa condo mag-praktis. And I also need to prepare for that intramurals.)

“Then fetch me.”

(Aye aye, Captain.)

I ended the call.

And I was really surprised to see a pick-up in front of me.

Infairness, gusto ko yung taste nya ha. Parang nakaka-gwapo kasi lalo kapag naka-pick-up ang guy.

“About what?” he asked.

“Your car,” I replied.

“About this car? I have this since I migrated here,” sagot nya.

“Then how come I don’t know anything about this?

“Personal matters, Zoe,” seryoso nyang sabi.

“Personal? Oh, so I’m not your best friend now?” But if he really doesn’t want to let me know, I will understand. Baka may dahilan talaga.

“It’s not like that, Zoe. Just get in the car, I’ll tell the story.” – Rence

“The engine or my story?” tanong nya.

“If you can handle both, then do it.” – ako

“Okay..” he started the engine. “This is one of those things that only Zac and I know about. You know, Zoe, I’m not as a commoner as I look, my family runs our own business back there,” he meant in the US, “inherited by my father from my grandparents. My mom, also, can run her own business if she likes to because my grandparents also gave her enough funds. We are rich as hell,” he expound without sounding boastful.

“That sounds like you can buy anything even the air that I breathe, but why do you choose to live in an ordinary way?” I asked him.

“Because it’s better this way. Normal. No stress. No problems. No fake friends.” – Rence

“Fake friends?” –ako

“Yes. Fake friends who wants me to be their friend just to benefit from my family’s money. And I was always taken for granted because of that.
