CHAPTER 66 A Date for Four
“Salamat ulit sa paghatid,” sabi ko kay Dric pagka-baba ko sa motor nya.
He said nothing but a smile then I walked to enter our house but turned to him at once after realizing I forgot to say something. “Thank you din sa paghatid sa’kin kanina kay Dwight,” I said.
“Wala yo’n,” he said with a smile again.
“Zoe? Nanjan ka na ba?” We heard Daddy’s voice from the inside of the house then he went out of it in no time. “Anjan ka na nga,” he said maybe because he heard the sound of Dric’s bike. Then he said something that made us confused, “pasok ka muna Dric, may sasabihin ako sa inyo.”
But even if I know Daddy’s up with something not good, I still went in the house with Dric following me. We both sat in a couch in the living room beside each other.
“Bakit ngayon lang kayo?” Daddy said questioning us with serenity.
I, then, looked at Dric who is obviously building up something in his mind. Then he said, “um.. Tito, nagmeryenda lang kami sa labas.”
Happily slapping his thigh while seating, daddy replied, “O kita mo nga naman, nagde-date na pala kayo eh.” What Dric said just made daddy believe that we are going well with each other so much but I don’t want him to. It was a pretty good excuse though.
“Daddy, hindi yo’n date,” I firmly differ.
“’Wag mo na i-deny anak, okay lang naman,” he gladly teased. “Sakto, I prepared something for you both.”
The confusion that was already built in me just grew more. Dric, I guess, is also confused because he didn’t say anything. I bet he is waiting for daddy to explain what he’s talking about like I was, also.
“I prepared a date for you two,” he continued with much excitement.
In contrast with his, my facial expression is filled with shock, annoyance and vexes that made me fidget. “What dad??”
“He prepared a date, Zoe,” Dric repeated after I asked. Wait a second; is he in favor of this?!
“I heard it, Dric!” I told him with an eyebrow raised, “and I’m not talking to you.” Then turned to dad, “Seriously, daddy??”
“It will be in a restaurant along an avenue, I’ll give you the details later. You have nothing to worry about, everything is set,” he elaborated.
“Daddy! I’m not going on a date with –“
“It will be on Saturday and you’re coming whether you like it or not,” he cut my complain short.
Because I know that he wouldn’t listen to me, I nudged Dric with my elbow and told him, using my eyes only, to do something.
Good thing he understands, “ah.. Tito.. Kasi po –“
“You can’t refuse to me Dric,” Daddy interrupted again.
“Bullshit,” I murmured in irritation.
“Tito baka pwede ‘wag na, magastos yo’n, ah, tsaka –“
“Ako ang bahala sa lahat, okay hijo?” Daddy interrupted for the nth time.
Ugh! He’s really getting on my nerves! I have to think of a way!
“I will date him only if I can invite some friends too,” I told daddy.
