Yasuhiro's POV
I was never interested in pursuing a relationship with someone, let alone bonding with a girl.
But that day she came into our lives-- my life, changed my way of thinking.
(Y/n) Sakamaki, that was her name. The girl who always picked fights with Izana every time they came across each other. Every time that happened, I had to act as the peacemaker.
It was tiring. I felt like a 24/7 babysitter, having to monitor their interaction so no one dies.
Breaking up their fights became part of my daily routine. At some point, I surrendered to fate and accepted my role as the unwilling peacemaker, since my other friends were either too much of a coward to deal with Izana's rampage, or just blatantly ignorant.
Annoyed, that was how I used to feel. But slowly, I got used to (Y/n)'s daily approach and her presence. Not seeing her clashing words with Izana every time she showed was unusual to me. After that, I simply familiarized myself with the routine. Watching Izana creating a scene with her, him earning a punch straight on his face as counterattack. I never interrupted unless they started showing hints of wanting to murder each other. That would be my call to break them up.
"Instead of watching him from sideline, why don't you be a good babysitter and educate this bastardized shrimp to respect others?!"
The first time she talked to me in such furious tone, I was amused. I found (Y/n) charming.
I started to find her daily visit comforting in a strange way. Perhaps because she livened things up in the juvenile center with her presence. Although we had not properly communicated with each other, I always gave her a smile when I tried to carry Izana away from her.
The way she always looked utterly confused upon receiving my smile was adorable.
On the day (Y/n) decided to apologize to us was the day I didn't foresee. Words couldn't describe how elated I was to be offered an opportunity to be her friend.
When a month flew by after her childhood friend, Ryuji, was released, I felt something was missing in my life. I acknowledged the fact that I missed (Y/n)'s company. Everyday, I prayed for her to come back and see us again. Even though the thought of her potentially forgetting us was strong, I never lost hope.
My prayer came true. She showed up again in front of us after a month, expressing her intention to befriend us.
When I saw her genuine smile for the first time, I would not lie, I was captivated. Though at that time, I remained oblivious to my own feelings.
Then, (Y/n) visited us more often at the correctional center. Every time she visited, there were always gifts, mostly manga, food and drinks, that she brought for us.
More sides of her I had never seen before were revealed, little by little. (Y/n) was just like other girls our age. Always keeping up with trends, liked to talk about relationship, had the professional-level skills in make-up. Sometime, she used us as her test subject for her make-up or her manicure session.
