Rui's birthday party..

Second Person's POV

As you entered the grand ballroom, your senses were momentarily overwhelmed by the brilliant lights. The crowd parted as you stepped forward, their eyes sweeping over your figure in that deep navy dress, curiosity sparking in their gazes.

And then, beside you, Wisteria entered.

The entire ballroom fell silent. Gasps rose softly from those who recognized her, their eyes widening in shock. Murmurs swept through the crowd as they took in her graceful, unchanging beauty, unchanged yet transformed by the strength she now radiated.

Naomi's face turned ghostly pale, her painted lips slightly parted in horror, as if she'd just seen an apparition. Her gaze flickered between you and Wisteria, the color draining from her cheeks. She clutched Ryoichi's arm, seeking some form of stability, but he didn't seem to notice. Ryoichi's eyes were wide with surprise, his usual composed demeanor cracking ever so slightly at the sight of his ex-wife standing proudly beside you. Across the room, you caught a glimpse of Ran and Rindou. They were equally stunned, their gazes pinned to Wisteria.

You felt Wisteria's calm presence beside you, steady as ever. She was fully aware of the impact her arrival had made, yet she stood unbothered. A soft smile played on her lips as she observed the reactions around her, particularly Naomi's barely concealed terror. Wisteria leaned in closer to you, her voice so soft that only you could hear.

"Ah," she murmured, eyes sparkling with amusement. "It seems I've caused quite the stir."

You allowed a small smile to tug at the corners of your lips, whispering back, "It's good news, isn't it?"

Just then, Rui's voice rose above the murmurs. "Mommy?" Her tone was filled with excitement, her gaze torn between you and Wisteria. She seemed frozen in place, as if she couldn't quite process what she was seeing.

Rui wasn't expecting for Wisteria to actually come-- she was ready to be disappointed. Yet, here, standing before her was Wisteria..

Wisteria's expression softened, a warmth filling her gaze as she looked at Rui. "Hello, my dear," she greeted. "Sorry I took so long. The traffic was unbelievable."

Rui didn't waste a moment and rushed toward her stepmother. She threw herself into her arms, and Wisteria hugged her without hesitation.

Naomi's footsteps were purposeful as she approached, her eyes narrowing with each step. The smile Wisteria had shared with Rui faded. Naomi's voice, dripping with frustration and disbelief, sliced through the tension in the room. "What are you doing here?" she demanded, her tone brittle, the smile on her face nowhere to be found. It was clear she was struggling to keep her composure.

Wisteria didn't flinch. She simply tilted her head slightly, still holding Rui close. "I came to celebrate, Naomi. Is that such a crime?" Her voice was calm, almost too calm.
