It was now Tuesday. Iris and I happened to get to school a little late because she decided it would be a great idea to stop for coffee on the way. Of course I couldn't say no to some coffee so we ended up stopping by the coffee shop. I get a discount anyways.
I'm sitting in Calculus waiting for Nate to walk in but he doesn't. If he doesn't show up, I'm going to be bored all class. He always makes it fun because we talk about random things. I quickly go to text him.
Me: Nate. You're not coming to school today?
Nate: Sorry Isa. I'm staying home. I need to get my physical done before football starts.
Well that explains it. I guess it's just me and Iris today.
Mr. Thompson handed us our usual calculus worksheet for today and allowed us to use the rest of the class to finish it. It didn't take long for me to finish since I wasn't distracted by anything. I walked up to his desk and placed the paper on it.
"Already done Miss Gray?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yes sir. It wasn't too long."
"Here. Take another one."
Great. I should have not turned it in. I could have just kept it at my desk. I begrudgingly took the sheet he handed me and dragged myself back to my desk.
Once I sat down, I looked at these problems. They were literally the same ones from yesterday's class. This man really did not try.
I finished the worksheet but instead of turning it in like an idiot, I sat at my desk and read my book. This books was my choice for the tutoring session I'm going to have later.
To be honest, when Ms. Williams informed me that it would be Elena, I was sort of happy and relieved. Happy that it was someone I actually have talked to. I was worried it would be awkward between me and the student but luckily for me, I already know Elena.
After calculus, Iris and I met at her locker like usual before walking together to Ms. Williams's class. Iris was telling me about some drama that was going on between some of our classmates.
I don't really care for any of that but she always seems to be caught up with the latest news. She finds things out so quickly that it's actually slightly concerning.
As soon as we walked into the classroom, we were greeted my Mrs. Leyva. Where was Ms. Williams?
"Good morning students. Ms. Williams is out today so I'm going to be covering your class. She left a note saying you all have your books that you should be reading and that when she returns, you all will have a quiz on the first 3 chapters." She announced.
"Thank god she's not here." I hear Iris whisper beside me.
Why did she not show up today? Was she alright? Was it because of yesterday? No. I'm getting too into my head. She's probably just sick. I had the urge to send her a message but that would be too weird.
Iris and I decided to actually read the book and write notes down so that we would be caught up in case she came back by tomorrow.
We got through the 3 chapters of the book and she actually managed to understand what she read. Progress.
The class rang allowing us to grab our things and head to our next class. I couldn't help but still think about Diana. I hoped that everything was okay.

The day moved by slowly. It seemed as if time was passing by 5x slower than usual. For some reason, the highlights of my days had been seeing Ms. Williams. Whether it was in the morning for our class or in the afternoon during my TA period.
