Senior year seems to be flying by. My college applications have been submitted, luckily with the help of Diana.
Within the past month, we went back to visit her family twice. We either went for the weekend or even just for a day. I really enjoy spending time with everyone. The way their family works is something I wish I could have with my own family.
Speaking of my family, things haven't really been going so well. My parents have been getting suspicious of the amount of time I spend with "Iris." They never cared so much about where I was and who I was with, but now they seem to ask all the time.
I had to start being a lot more careful about what I say around them and keep up with my lies.
My birthday is tomorrow which also meant tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I never liked having both of them together but there wasn't much I could do, at least it wasn't actually on Christmas day.
I've spent my winter break with Diana whenever she wasn't busy. I helped her grade our midterm exams so that she didn't have a lot to worry about.
We spent the rest of the time going out on little dates or staying in and watching movies. She has never failed to make me feel extremely happy and treat me right.
She loves to randomly buy me gifts or cook me my favorite meals. I always feel bad because the gifts she buys aren't necessarily cheap. I try to tell her not to buy me anything but she insists.
She remembers the tiniest details which shows me how much she pays attention and cares.
I believe going to meet her family had a great impact on our relationship and brought us closer together. I can see how much she had opened up about everything. There were things she avoided talking about but now it's as if she would like me to know every detail about her, and I love it.
I sat in my car at the mall's parking lot, waiting for Iris. Of course Iris had the bright idea to wait until 2 days before Christmas to get her family gifts.
We were finally going to leave but Iris said she needed to grab one more thing, she sent Elena and I to the car.
"So Iris told me your birthday is tomorrow right?" Elena asked after we had just been scrolling on our phones for a bit.
"Yeah, unfortunately."
"Aren't you excited? I think having a birthday on Christmas Eve is cool." She smiled softly trying to make me feel better.
"Do you really think that?"
"No but I didn't wanna say otherwise." We both laughed.
"Did you have any plans? Tomorrow Iris is coming over to my house since my family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve. If you aren't busy you should definitely come over." Elena added.
"Thank you but I was just going to see my girlfriend tomorrow. I'm sorry. Maybe some other time?" I thanked her and offered a soft smile.
"No worries. I just thought I'd ask." She responded. "Anyways, how are things going with her? If you don't mind me asking of course."
"Honestly, they are going really well. We are super close now and I can feel we have a strong relationship." I smiled thinking about Diana.
"So when can we meet her?" She questioned as her eyes scanned my face.
"Um- maybe soon." I said hesitantly.
"Whoever she is. I'm sure she's amazing. Whenever you're ready to introduce her to us, we will be here for you." Elena said placing a hand on my arm. "I hope you don't feel scared to tell us who she is."
