I found myself picking every single thing out of my closet to try on. I wanted to look good. I had just gotten out of the shower after returning from the floral shop. I placed an order a couple of days ago for a bouquet for Diana. I had managed to figure out what kinds of flowers she liked.
I had attempted to figure it out one afternoon in her classroom. We didn't have anything to grade so we were just talking for a while.
"Okay, your turn with a question." Diana says.
"Describe me in one word." I said. I looked to her and she seemed to not know what to say at all. I shook my head and decided to go with another question.
"Nevermind. What is your favorite kind of flower?" I casually asked hoping not to make it too obvious. We had just been previously asking random questions so I didn't think it was too much out of the ordinary.
"Hmm. You know I have never given much thought to it. I guess I would say my favorite flowers are red roses or white. They might be really basic but I find them extremely beautiful." She shrugged.
The following day, I looked in to different flower shops in town and decided to go to one that didn't have that many reviews. The owners were an older couple. This made me much more compelled to buy from there, considering they didn't seem to have many customers.
After leaving a generous tip, I returned home with the beautiful bouquet and hopped into the shower. Diana had sent me a message saying that she would pick me up around 6. I had a little more than an hour to get ready.
I stood here still trying to decide what to wear. Diana said that she wanted to cook for me at her house and have a little date there without having to go anywhere else. When she told me, I immediately fell in love with the idea. I was happy that we were going to enjoy a nice dinner together but also be in the comfort of her home, without worrying about anyone seeing us.
That was always in the back of my mind. That fear of being caught by anyone we may know. We've been really careful about it and we will continue to be.
I threw a black dress on with a pair of black heels. I knew I could never go wrong with a black-on-black outfit. I decided to leave my hair straight. I didn't think I had enough time to curl it because I also wanted to put on a little make-up.
When I initially told my parents that I would be going out this weekend, they didn't really seem to mind. As I walked down the steps is where everything started to go wrong.
"Are you going on a date or something?" My dad asked. I hadn't even noticed him. He was sitting on the couch scrolling on his phone.
"No?" I said but it came out more like a question.
"Why are you so dressed up then?"
"I'm going to a nice restaurant with Iris and Nate. That's it."
My dad raised an eyebrow, scanning my eyes to see if I was telling the truth. I wasn't completely sure if he had been convinced, but he nodded and turned his attention back to his phone.
I let out a sigh of relief and retrieved my purse from its usual resting place, a hook where I left my keys at by the front door.
I hadn't received a text from Diana yet but I didn't want to be in the house anymore. I found myself doing this very often. Waiting at the front porch. I sat on the steps which allowed me to have some time to think for myself.
I did myself the favor and kept the flowers in my car so that my parents wouldn't ask any questions. I didn't need that right now. When I saw headlights approaching my house from a distance, I got up and walked towards my car.
