If it weren't for my shift at the coffee shop on Sunday, I would have spent the entire weekend in my bed. I stopped bothering with the constant texts and phone calls. It was no use. She needed time and whenever she wanted to talk, she'd come around.
She did send me a message saying she was okay. She didn't answer anything after that but I was just glad to know she was alright.
I continued the rest of my weekend with a heavy heart. Everything that had happened this past weekend had completely altered my friendships and relationship. My own friends didn't believe me and my girlfriend was not speaking to me anymore.
I walked her classroom, half expecting not to see her, but there she was. She sat at her desk, typing away at her laptop. Her eyes didn't dare look up from the screen.
Iris and I sat in our usual seats as the rest of our classmates filed in.
"Good morning students. You all have the entire period to finish this exam. I hoped you all prepared for it." Diana says standing up from her desk and picking up a stack of papers.
Fuck. I completely forgot about it. It was multiple choice and a short essay at the end. It was about the current novel we were reading. I've read it before so I didn't feel the need to read it again but I should have. It had been a little while since I had read it.
Diana began handing out the exams one by one to each student. I watched as she graciously walked around the room. She looked like she hadn't slept much but she still managed to look perfect nonetheless.
She wore her hair back in a messy bun with some strands of hair framing the sides of her face. She wore a white button up shirt with a pair of black suit pants. She looks so good.
When she got to my row, I looked into her eyes hoping she'd look at me but she didn't. She placed the exam on my desk and continued walking without even sparing me a glance.
"If you finish the exam, bring it up to my desk and wait until the bell rings to be dismissed. Good luck." She announces before sitting back down at her desk.
I opened the test and I immediately begin to panic. Some of the questions I knew I'd able to answer, but there were quite a few I couldn't remember the answer to.
I had been so caught up in everything the past couple of days that I pushed my school work to the side. I've never done that. I shouldn't start now either, especially when I'm so close to the end.
I looked to my left to see Iris already staring back at me. She smiles and gives me a thumbs up before opening her own exam.
We came to school together but it still hasn't been the same since this past weekend. I know she was just trying to be on Nate's side but it still hurts to know that she believed I would do something like that.
She apologized multiple times and I forgave her, but it still made me feel some type of way. I was trying to get over it though.
My leg continued to bounce up and down on the floor while I tapped my pencil against the desk softly. I felt anxiety building up in me and I didn't know what to do. I couldn't focus. For the first time ever, I felt completely helpless.
I tried to power through the test as much as possible, skipping over any questions I did not know and hope the answer would magically come to me so I could return to the question later.
I stopped and occasionally glanced around the room, watching as my fellow classmates were almost done with their test. As my eyes swept the room, I was met with a familiar pair of eyes.
