Chapter 44

Caleb's POV

"Paps, si Athalia? Anong nangyayari?" I said in panic nang marinig ko ang malalakas na putukan ng bomba sa kabilang linya ng telepono.

"Shit. Call Athalia Fernan! We need back ups!"

"Is that Eulalia? Fuck it, she's here! Sabihin mo na andito ang kapatid niya! Fuck this!"

It was on loud speaker so I could hear the gunshots on the background before the call ended.

"Paps anong nangyayari?" kalmadong sabi ko at pilit na itinago ang bayolenteng pagwawala ng puso dahil sa kaba.

I could hear my girlfriend's name being mentioned! And its a fucking ambush!

Hindi ako pinansin ni Paps at nagdial ng number, at hindi din nagtagal sumagot ang kanilang linya.

"I need back ups, send it to the location I am about to forward." iyon ang huling salitang binitawan niya bago mabilis na kinuha ang coat, isang baril at tuluyang umalis. Ginamit nito ang isa sa mga bulletproof na kotse niya.

Shit.

Paano kung andoon si Athalia?!

With little hesitation, I grabbed my jacket and jumped on my bike, following the car at a fair distance. I noticed that it was heading towards a private high school nearby, which is where Eulalia studies according to Athalia.

The car stopped just infront of the school gate. Lumabas si Paps mula sa loob ng sasakyan at nilapitan ang isang private army.

I hid behind a bush just outside the campus as I overheard students shouting and gunshots ringing in the distance.

Lumapit ang private army head chef kay Paps habang seryoso silang nag-uusap. Kitang kita ko ang iritasyon sa mukha niya habang nakikinig sa sinasabi ng chef. Napahilamos siya ng mukha dahil sa inis.

Then Paps dialled another call, I immediately understood his intention.

"Senyora! May ambush sa paaralan ni Eulalia! And we can't find her!" histerical na sabi niya.

Gulat na nanlaki ang mata ko.

Senyora? Teka, si Athalia 'yun diba?!

Pupunta siya dito?!

Nasagot lahat ng tanong ko nang dumating ang girlfriend kong si Athalia na armado. At that moment, all I want to do is pull her to stop from entering the campus, but before I could even get her attention, pumasok na ito sa loob ng campus, kasama ang maraming armadong lalaki.

Everything happened so quickly. All I can remember was how I followed them inside the campus.

Paps and Athalia being in the middle of the field, surrounding armed men, and Eulalia on the other building eyeing on her sister.

And a man wearing a dark cloak behind Athalia. He was aiming his gun at her with a hundred percent sure Athalia could get head shot.

Without a second thought, I grabbed a gun who was owned by a dead military on the ground and shooting the person behind my girlfriend. Tumama iyon sa balikat niya kaya napatingin siya sa kinaroroonan ko bago mabilis na umalis.

At pagtingin ko pabalik kay Athalia, masama itong nakatingin sa akin habang hawak ang duguang kapatid.

I froze in place, na tila ba naparalisa ang katawan ko sa gulat. Akala ko hindi niya nagawang hilahin ang gatilyo!

Lalapitan ko sana sila nang binaril ako ni Athalia sa balikat na naging dahilan ng pagkabulagta ko sa damuhan.

I closed my eyes, seeing how her eyes were bloodshot and empty. It was as if she didn't recognized me. As if she was looking at an enemy.
