I was almost there...

Just a moment away from becoming unclear.
Ever get the feeling you're gone?
I'll show you the way, the way I'm going.

So I run and hide and tear myself up,
Start again with a brand new name,
And eyes that see into infinity.

So I run,
Start again.
With a brand new name,
With a brand new name.

Into infinity,
I will disappear....

"Capricorn" - Thirty Seconds To Mars

------------------------------------------------

Dinner passed by surprisingly uneventfully. I ate quickly, with Seonghwa, San and Yeosang to keep me company. We dined in relative peace, save for the occasional bickering between a few of The Vultures who'd lingered in the kitchen. The three of them escorted me to The Captain's cabin once we'd finished.

San opened the door easily, leaning against it to keep it open with his back, his attention trained on me. With his right hand he gestured into the room, as he held his arm out and offered me a small bow to welcome me to the room.

"M'lady." His imitation of a posh accent won a giggle from me, to which he smiled warmly. I could almost feel the disgusted face Seonghwa made behind me. Yeosang sighed softly, clicking his tongue. Rolling my eyes playfully, I cautiously entered immediately recognizing the room I'd found myself in. The very same room I'd first met Hongjoong in.

As expected, The Kingfisher sat comfortably in his high backed chair, one leg casually slung over a plush velvet arm to swing idly. Hongjoong had been holding a book open in his left hand, lithe fingers spread wide to keep the book open. His right hand held his chin lazily as his elbow perched snuggly on the opposite arm of the chair.

Helplessly, I found myself mesmerized by how utterly ethereal The Captain looked as he lounged there. The setting sun poured in through the open portholes behind him to cast an angelic glow on his silhouette, and a slight breeze set little locks of cerulean hair swaying around his face. My gaze traveled along the curve of his jaw which angled perfectly toward his rounded chin, then to his pouted lips which parted just so and danced delicately as he read to himself.

Upon my entering, his dark eyes flickered from the contents of the open page to rest on me. I felt my spine tingle, a shiver creeping up my back as those obsidian optics regarded me. I was unable to shake the feeling that I was akin to a sailor being sung in to shipwreck by a siren's call. Snapping the book shut gently, he slid in his seat to place both feet on the floor and set the leather bound book aside.

"Ahhh," Hongjoong's voice resonated softly as he sat toward the edge of his seat, "There she is... The belle of The Blackbird." Canting his head slowly to the side, he flashed a salient smile that unveiled the top row of his teeth. Truthfully, his grin bordered on wicked. Perhaps from anyone else I'd have felt alarmed by such a display, but I knew in my heart of hearts that The Captain held no ill intent toward me.

"I trust my crew have been treating you well?" He continued, glancing behind me to behold my three escorts with a curious gaze, before returning those haunting eyes to me. "I wouldn't want to have to maroon any of them on some Gods forsaken island." His grin widened, and I felt a cursed heat lick at my cheeks.
