Dream Sequence - Part Two

Come into my life,
Regress into a dream.
We will hide,
Build a new reality.
Draw another picture,
Of the life you could have had.
Follow your instincts,
And choose the other path.

You should never be afraid.
You're protected from trouble and pain.

Why?
Why is this a crisis in your eyes,
Again.

Come to be,
How did it come to be?
Tied to a railroad,
No love to set us free.
Watch our souls fade away,
Let our bodies crumble away.

Don't be afraid.
I will take the blow for you.

And I've had recurring nightmares,
That I was loved for who I am,
And missed the opportunity,
To be a better man.

"Don't be afraid, noona. I'll be right here when you wake." Jongho's arm came up from where he'd had it wrapped around my torso, to run his hand through my hair like he always did when I needed comfort. He knew I couldn't resist it when he called me noona, the cheeky bastard. "It's just a little rain, babe. Don't worry your pretty little head and get some rest."

It was so cold tonight, and the torrential rainstorm had knocked our power out. No electricity meant no heat, and I had begun to shiver even under the thick covers that lined our bed. That, and I was deathly afraid of thunder. It was mostly the thunder. A flash of lightning lit up our dark room, and I felt myself cower back into his embrace. I wasn't facing him, but I didn't have to be to know my boyfriend was laughing at me.

"Ugh, make it stop, Jong-ah." I whined, burrowing my head under the covers. I barely heard him snort softly, his soft voice muffled by the thick covers. Poking my head out, I blew away dark blonde strands of hair from my face as I pouted. "I can't sleep with all the racket."

"If I could shout away the clouds for you, Jinnie-Binnie, I would." Jongho murmured with a soft snort, resting his head on my shoulder to nuzzle into me. He spoke softly, and I could tell he was already very sleepy himself. "It should be clearing up soon, and in the morning I'll call the electric company to get the power sorted out. I'm sure they're busy, it seems like the whole block is out."

"You're right," I sighed softly, letting myself settle into my pillow. My eyes closed, and I listened to his soft breathing. I was still too cold, but it wasn't all so bad. Perhaps I was just being over-dramatic, as I so often tended to be. "It's just a storm. If I can kill someone in cold blood and not bat an eyelash, then I should at very least be able to sit through a thunderstorm without crying."

"That's my brave girl," Jongho snickered, his arm moving to wrap around my waist again. I could tell he was getting sleepy himself, but was fighting his fatigue to keep me company. That was one of the many reasons I loved that man. He was always willing to prioritize my comfort over his own. "No thunder is going to shake my little Widowmaker, is it? No, ma'am."

"It's so spooky though," I shuddered, taking solace in his body heat. At least that was keeping the creeping chill at bay. "I'm already nervous enough about the mission tomorrow night, and if I don't get any sleep I'm more likely to be a liability to the crew."

I loved that I could be vulnerable around him. I didn't have to be some badass, big balls assassin with him. I could just be human. I also loved that I could confide in him when I felt weak. It was the first thing that attracted me to him when we first met, all those years ago. Well, it was the second thing actually. The first thing was his smile, and the adorable way he looked at me with such kindness any time we were alone.
