"A Day" - Choi Jongho (ATEEZ)

"Are you going to talk to me now?" I pursed my lips, crossing my arms loosely across my chest as I held him with an unrelenting stare. "Or, are you going to keep avoiding me for the rest of time?"

"I'm not--" The Sparrow started, eyes rounding innocently as his lips pursed to pucker slightly. Shaking his head, he lifted his hands from his pockets, waving his left one slightly. "Ani-- I mean, I haven't been trying to av-avoid--" 

"Oh, you haven't been trying to avoid me?" I cut in, my head tilting severely as I folded my arms in tighter.  I felt my brows loft high, eyes widening in disbelief as I scoffed harshly. "Please, Jongho. Let's be real here..." I let my gaze settle on his umberwine hues, shaking my head as I fought the urge to raise my voice in frustration. "I haven't seen hide nor hair of you since we shared a vision together."

"It's not... I've just been..." Jongho's gaze darted from mine every few seconds, only to return and snap away again, as though he were physically incapable of maintaining eye contact with me for longer than a mere moment. As if it burned his sight to look upon me. "I've been busy, with uh-- y'know, Boatswain things."

"Gaesori," I snorted, the word nearly burning like acid against my teeth as I spat it out. "You can't tell me you haven't had two seconds to spare to talk to me, Sparrow. Hell, you can hardly stand to look at me!"

"Jin-ah," Jongho breathed, his brows furrowing as he finally let his gaze linger on mine for more than a fraction of a second. I watched as he started to take a step forward, hesitating to follow through. "I've just-- I can't--" He paused, floundering over his words before he set his jaw, rolling his shoulders back. "Look, it's not you, its me, okay?"

'It's not you, it's me!?'

I froze, my eyes slowly widening until I felt like they might bulge out of my skull entirely. I felt my face grow hot as my brows pulled tight, my head tilting forward and to the left in an incredulous tilt. "...mworago?" I seethed, my voice dropping low. I could tell by the panicked expression on The Sparrow's face that he immediately regretted his choice of words. "Did you... did you really just drop 'it's not you, it's me,' on my ass, Choi Jongho!?"

"That's-- I didn't mean it like--" Jongho's voice rose half an octave in pitch as he lifted his hands in a placative gesture, his palms facing me as though I had been holding him hostage. "Please, that's not what I meant, noona, I just..." 

"Then what the fuck did you mean, Sparrow?" I hadn't meant to shout, but for some reason I found myself unable to hold back the dam of frustration and anger that had been growing inside of me for the last few days.
