A lot had changed in the months since Allison died, but then a lot had stayed the same. Aaliyah herself had changed, she'd become even more closed off than before, scared to drag someone else into her black hole of a life, spending hours most nights training rather than sleeping. Stiles was irreparably plagued by nightmares but still managed to stay his witty sarcastic self despite the trauma. Lydia was distant, mostly only spoke to Aaliyah and Scott after losing her best friend and boyfriend.

Kira adjusted quickly to Beacon Hills and the pack, and Malia was still working on it. Issac seemed mostly the same, maybe a little quieter while Scott did his best to keep everyone afloat, which seemed to be what was holding him together. Scott and Issac were the perfect constant they all needed. There was a noticeable gap in their friend group, no one spoke on it but they all felt it. It was filled slightly by Malia, but Malia wasn't Allison.

On the long drive back from Mexico the changes were almost too noticeable. No one spoke of the odd nature of whatever happened to Derek aside from a few theories, they had all accepted the supernatural into their lives now. Had this happened a year ago they probably wouldn't have even gone to find Derek. They definitely wouldn't have taken the time to smuggle him unconscious over the border into the United States.

Aaliyah didn't speak much at all, she thought back to when it was just her, Scott, and Stiles. The jeep was never this quiet then. Her attention was split between the desert outside the window slowly turning from city back to bare desert. The boy laid across their laps in the backseat, his head in her lap, and Lydia staring out the opposite window just as lost in thought as Aaliyah was. She wished she had sat next to Lydia instead of Issac.
