It is finally time.
Well, not really finally, since you're not really sure if this was the right decision to make, because you will see him again. And you will need to actually do something instead of lying in bed in your free time watching anime, Brooklyn Nine-Nine or Youtube.
But it's time to head to the gym as the manager of the team, together with your two friends that definitely didn't want this either, to train some dudes you like, and some you dislike. Actually it's just one person but that's enough to have a heavy heart from it.
Hah, sounds fun, doesn't it?
"Remember, we are the managers. The guys just have to listen to us!" Rin says as she nods to herself, mostly encouraging herself as she's going to see her ex-boyfriend there as well. "Hah, and that means the twins have to listen to me too."
"That's right," Kaiya answers, looking into the distance with little to no emotion shown. "I really wonder why we did this."
"Because we are stupid," you say, rolling your eyes at your own actions. You sure are really stupid, that is one thing. This wasn't a good idea but there's no going back now.
"Also remember that we are here for you, so if stupid people happen, we'll kick asses."
"We? More like you. I'm not gonna do that," Kaiya answers Rin, frowning at her. "You can kick them, you're more sporty or something."
"I'm absolutely not? I barely go out and play games most of the time."
"But you have older brothers! I only have younger siblings."
"Mhm, that's fair. The twins are pretty annoying and I had to kick them a few times," she answers. "Maybe I am cut out for that part."
You sigh. "I'm already regretting this. We have our stupid friends and family that will annoy us, then there's also Kageyama in the team who will make my life hell, and we have Haruko that's gonna watch every damn practice, which can be fun but he's definitely gonna make fun of us."
"And don't forget the fangirls and the partners of everyone in the team," Kaiya mumbles, thinking about all the Suna and Atsumu fangirls.
She doesn't like them one bit. Maybe she's a little jealous, but she's not gonna tell that to anybody.
"What were we gonna do again as the managers? Do they even have a coach?" Rin asks, opening the doors to the building where the gym is located at. She holds the door open so you and Kaiya can walk in as well. Rin adjusts her uniform jacket a little and grimaces. "These outfits are hideous. Why is this blue so bright? I wish I could wear black instead."
"We should have gone to Tokyo Metropolitan University instead of UTokyo, then," Kaiya replies to Rin, laughing. "Their colours are black and blue."
"The blue and yellow are hideous, I can't imagine my brothers wearing that ugly blue and yellow for their uniforms but alright," she answers back, then walking into the building.
"Yeah, it's interesting," she replies. She then turns to look at Rin. "They do have a coach, but he's new and he said he needed help with coaching and getting to know the team," she answers Rin's previously asked question. "So Riles will do that."
"What? Why me?" you ask with a frown. "We never discussed that."
"You know the players! You are the best at making sure everyone is in the right position and in their right mind, you're good at getting the team to function right, you have the eyes for that. Who else should do it?"
"Rin, because she's good at coming up with tactics and such since she plays so many video games?"
"I don't know, maybe. I'm just here for the planning dude," Kaiya mumbles to the two of you, shrugging. "You are good at cheering them on and making sure the players are at their best potential, you know when they're feeling low and not working at their best. Rin is good at tactics, sure, but she can talk to the coach about that later while you keep an eye out on the players so you can cheer them on when they need to play better. You're better with words, Rin is better with tactics, and I'm best at planning."
"Ok, fine," you mumble. "So that means I'm there to make sure everyone feels wanted, to make sure they do what they can do best and to get the best out of them?" you ask, to which your cousin nods. "And you, Kaiya, will do all the planning? Making sure we have all we need, have jerseys, supporters, get posters out and all that?"
"That's me!" she says, nodding. "I'l do the photography and the posters, too. Everyone is going to want to watch these matches."
"And that leaves Rin to help the coach with positions, tactics and where the players will play at their best."
"Yep," Rin says with a nod. "I'm down. It's good we got that figured out, it would've been a hot mess if we just went in there randomly without a plan or introduction about what we are going to do this year."
"Yeah, with us that wouldn't of have been good."
The three of you are now standing in front of the entrance of the gym. You change into your gym shoes, and then you guys open the door to walk in after taking a deep breath.
That's when many heads shoot towards the door. All guys were already playing volleyball, waiting until the new managers would come. Some knew that you would come, like your friends, but there are still a lot of players that have no idea.
They've heard a lot of good things about you three from Atsumu and Kaykay, and even Suna and Osamu said some things. If those last two say something good, they know it's serious.
"There they are!" Atsumu says with a smile, putting his hands on his hips to see you three walk in. "Ah, they're so hot, look at them."
"I'd rather not refer to our sister as hot, Atsumu," Osamu says, walking away from his brother to throw the ball back into the cart. "But they look good, and the Little One too. They seem very confident. Let's meet up in the middle so they can introduce themselves."
After all the guys have gathered in the middle of the court, the the coach walks towards all of you.
"Please welcome our new managers! You can introduce yourselves, girls. We are happy to have you here."
"Okay, thank you. I'm Miya Rin," she starts, looking at everyone. "I am a double major in Science and Game Design. I will be responsible for helping out the coach with positions and tactics to make sure our team will win every match," Rin says as she looks around the group of guys. "And the fact that I'm Atsumu and Osamu's sister doesn't change a damn thing, because they're two idiots and they know that I'm good at this," she continues with a nod towards Kaiya. Many of the team shout out an "ooh" or "burn" towards the twins.
"I'm Nishimura Kaiya and I am a Photography student. I will be responsible for the planning and I will make sure everything will work smoothly when we have a match. Whenever that's the case, I'll fix everything, from going there, making sure we have food and drinks, and everything else. I'll also take photos and make sure you all look good on the socials, as on the posters," she says. Some of the guys snicker at her words, but then it's your turn.
All guys look at you. "I'm Nakano Riley. I'm a Film Production student. I will make sure all of you are at your full potential, and that we'll win. I will not only observe the team, but also other teams so I can help Rin and the coach. I'm going to help everyone find their strengths and weaknesses and make sure no one can crush our team, no matter what. You'll all play well and that's because of me."
Your eyes meet Kageyama's when you're done. You and him look at each other for a short moment before you look away from his annoyed looking face.
It doesn't do anything to you.
He's just a volleyball player and nothing more.
