It is time for volleyball practice again, which means it's your job to be a manager and help out the coach.
You hear the sound of squeaking sneakers, the bounces of the volleyball balls, and the occasional shouts from Kuroo. Everyone seems like they're enjoying their practice, but they also have to, because the match against Kyoto University is soon, and you need to win. You need to show them that Tokyo is better. It's fun to defeat the other team, consisting of people like Oikawa, Iwaizumi, most of old Karasuno, and more, and show them that your team works better.
On the sidelines, you, Rin and Kaiya stand with clipboards and water bottles. You and Rin are holding onto the clipboards for tactics and positions, while Kaiya is handling the other stuff like jerseys and the water, and what object you have to take to Kyoto to play against them.
A few days back, you all got your shirts with "team manager" printed on the back, all ready for the match against Kyoto. It looks professional when you wear it.
"Riles," Kaiya calls out, "did you get the forms for the ref against Kyoto? I think the coach left it in the locker room again, but we still need to send it to the ref before tomorrow."
You sigh, already turning toward the hallway to get the forms. "Yeah, I'll go grab it. Can y'all give those losers some water?"
"Got it," Rin replies, already moving toward the team with water bottles in her hand. Kaiya nods and follows her.
Just as you head toward the doors to get to the changing room, the gym doors swing open, and in walks Calum, hands in his pockets, and backpack hanging over one shoulder. There is a little grin shown on his face.
You see who it is instantly, especially since the door almost slammed against your face.
"Oh no," Kaiya mumbles under her breath as she sees the look on Calum's face. He is in for trouble.
"My girl's still working hard?" Calum asks, voice teasing, his smile getting bigger when he sees you in your uniform. Something about wearing that uniform makes him feel some kind of way.
"Yes. And you are early," you say when you roll your eyes, your cheeks turning slightly pink at the mention of being 'his girl'.
He walks over anyway after taking off his shoes, brushing his shoulder against yours lightly. "Mhm, yeah, sue me for being excited to see you, Riles."
Across the court, Kageyama, who is drinking water that Rin just gave him, looks up at the sound of Calum's voice. His jaw tenses up and his grip on the water bottle tightens.
Who the hell does Calum think that he is? Walking into the gym when there's a practice? Just to see you? What kind of fuckery it that?
"Oh look," he calls out before he even thinks, loud enough for most people to hear and especially Kuroo, "Romeo's back. Again. Why are you dropping by the gym so much?"
Your smile drops. Calum, meanwhile very unbothered, looks over his shoulder and waves at Kageyama. "What can I say? I'm just consistent. Maybe I like volleyball more than I'd like to admit, especially with you there."
Kageyama tosses the volleyball a little too hard into the ball cart. "Do you ever not need attention?"
"Do you ever not sound jealous?" Calum replies casually.
Kageyama scoffs, crossing his arms. "Jealous? Of what, exactly? The fact that you walk around practice like a lost puppy while you don't even belong here? Do you want to belong here or something?"
