The shinkansen slows to a halt, the platform seems busy here in Kyoto Station. Seems like a lot of people are headed to Tokyo while others just got off to spend the day in Kyoto. The doors slide open, the sun shining on your face once you step outside.

You're the first one that steps out, adjusting your bag over your shoulder, your eyes scanning the platform. Behind you, the rest of the team follows. They're all laughing, stretching, and groaning about the long ride, especially Atsumu who can't even sit still for more than twenty minutes.

Before you can take another step, a loud voice breaks through the chatter of the rest of the team.

"RILEY!!"

You barely have time to react before two arms wrap around you for a tight hug by no other than Oikawa Tooru, your number buddy and good friend for years. Behind you, the entire Kyoto volleyball team stands lined up in their university jackets, holding a massive welcome sign for some odd reason.

"Oh no," you mumble when you see Bokuto holding onto the sign with a huge smile. On the other side is Akaashi, but he doesn't look so happy with holding the banner.

"We are so happy you guys are here!" Oikawa screams in your ear. You frown and step away from him, but he wraps his arms around you for another hug. "But we're definitely going to win."

"You're not," Kageyama deadpans as he steps toward you and Oikawa.

"Tobio-chan."

"Tooru."

Both look at each other, no expression on their faces. Even now, their rivalry is still there.

You roll your eyes. "Bye," you say before you walk towards the rest of the team, not wanting to be near Kageyama.

You say your hello to Bokuto and then walk towards Akaashi. "It's so good to see you," Akaashi says as you both hug. You feel a wave of nostalgia hit you and sigh happily. "It's good to see you too, Keiji."

He smiles and lets go of you. "Was the journey alright?"

"Aside from the fact that our bus driver still hasn't replied, yes. The shinkansen got us here on time so that's nice."

"Good to hear."

"Oh, Akaashi," you spot Calum cluelessly walking around, then grab him by his arm. "I want you to meet someone. This is Calum. We are..."

"Best friends who might be dating," Calum says with a smile. "It's nice to meet you. We met in London last year."

"Ah, I've heard about you. You're the one where Riles has the matching tattoo with."

Calum laughs. "That's true, indeed."

"Oh my gosh, Maki-chan?!"

You snap your head around when you hear Rin shout out her friend's name. "I didn't know you were going to be here!"

"Surprise!" she says, chuckling as she hugs her all girls school bestie.

Then, Iwaizumi Hajime walks up next to her and nods. "Miya Rin," he says, a slight grin around his face. Rin looks away awkwardly. "Hajime," she adds, coughing. "Alright, this is awkward."

"I will never forget you saying that Iwa-chan is hotter than me all those years back!" Oikawa chimes in, standing near them. You laugh at the four of them and let them be, looking around you to see if you spot someone else you want to talk to.

Then you spot Haruko standing a few meters away from you. You frown and excuse yourself, letting Calum and Akaashi talk for a while. "Are you alright?" you ask as you arrive at his spot. He doesn't really reply, rather just stares into the distance. And when you look in the same direction, you see what he's looking at. Or rather, who.
