After breakfast, I waited at the front door for Elora with Kelsie. I glanced out the door and I saw my car parked out front. She was a pretty old mustang and for a girl, it was pretty cool to be seen driving it.

"What's on your mind?" Kelsie glanced at me, trying to read my mind. I looked at her and I shook my head.

"Just admiring the beast. I think I need to go take her down to the workshop. Check the engine. See if it's alright." I looked back at the Mustang and I smiled to myself, thinking how lucky I was to have that and still be in an abusive family.

"Ho-" Kelsie was interrupted as a ball of blond shot out of the door into the front yard.

"Come on! I'm hungry!" Elora exclaimed, running to the side of the car and grabbing the door handle.

We walked down the porch and I unlocked the car. I got into the car and I looked at Elora.

"Backseat, kid. Respect." I glared at her as she made herself comfortable in the front seat. She groaned and climbed to the back.

"When will I ever get to sit in front?" Elora moaned out, almost as if she was crying.

"Never." Kelsie replied. I smirked at her and started the engine. I drove to the playground and before I could unlock the car, she darted out of the car and grabbed hold of the swings.

"She's the death of me." I stared at El, as she frantically tried her best to move on the swing.

I grabbed the basket and we sat on the bench, my eyes never leaving Elora. I opened a bottle of water and I downed half of the bottle in less than ten seconds.

"Jesus. Talk about staying hydrated." Kel muttered, watching as I drank the water.

"She deserves better."

"You both do. Stop not involving yourself. This is about you two. How you both are gonna spread your wings." I shrugged and I set the bottle down.

"Cora, what happened?"

There were times I could never look at Kelsie in the face. It seems like as I looked at her, she could read my mind before I could finish my sentences.

I didn't want her to see me break again over the same thing I had been through. She told me several times she'd help out. I was a reluctant bitch and I wanted to do it on my own. I wanted to learn independence. And that meant rejecting help when I needed it the most.

I didn't look at her this time either. I swallowed my dry throat.

"She said she couldn't take it anymore. She's been seeing someone else. But if dad finds out he's gonna kill him. So she left."

"Won't he be able to find her?"

"She filed a restraining order against him. If that doesn't help, she can just...call the cops."

"It works on her but not on you."

I turned to face her and I smiled. "Just a few more months. And I'm off to college."

"Then what? Elora?"

"You'd think I'd leave my sister alone with that low life cock sucking father of mine? No thanks." I crossed my arms and I turned my gaze back to Elora.

"Listen Cora I'm here if you need me, baby. I promise." I smiled and nodded. "Thank you."

"Anyway, I totally fucked my boss last night." She poked my thigh with her finger. "That's great."

"He was so good. Come on. He's like this raw, magnificent man with so much of sex drive it drives me nuts. Don't you think you'd find someone who's just pounding you ridiculous and then call you beautiful a few hours later?"

"I don't know. But I think I'll wait. If anyone needs pounding, it's me. I need to really hit my head against the wall."

She poked her tongue out and I scrunch my nose.

"You'll find someone. He's gonna fuck you 25 ways possible and you're not gonna walk the next day."

"Hopefully forever." I added. She rolled her eyes. "You're missing out."

"I've had enough sex for my age, Kelsie. I don't wanna be branded as a slut."

"So? Men are man whores." I smirked.

"I don't care. I just want to take care of her. That's all." I looked at Elora playing in the sandbox.

"Even if it means you don't get to have sex?"

"I don't care. After everything, alI want is for her to be happy. And for me to move on."

"Can I join you?"

"The fuck kind of a question is that? I'm obviously taking you along with me. Period."

She grinned and turned her gaze back to Elora.

"She's gonna grow up to be a heartbreaker."

Let's hope the first heart she breaks isn't mine." I smirked.
