My door burst open and Kelsie jumped on the bed. "Happy fucking birthday, bitch!" She kissed my face and peppered little kisses after. I groaned and pushed her off.
"Fucking hell!" She grabbed the covers and pulled it away from me. "Come on! I'm taking the day off! We can go get our nails done! We can do our hair! We can get pizza!"
I looked at her and I groaned again. "Stop the noise!"
Before I knew it she had dragged me downstairs and ate my food. I sat next to her and I ate along with her.
"So, any news?" She asked. I stared at her and I frowned.
"All bad, Kelsie." She frowned.
"Are you going to juvie?" "I'm 18 now. No juvie, just jail."
"Fucking hell." "I'm not sure but the lawyer is trying his best."
"I'm sorry, Cora. I wish I could help you." "It's fine. I just wanna make the most of my time."
"Does El know?" "I spoke to her about it. She'll be okay." "I doubt it." I sighed. "Don't make it hard, Kel. Give me some news."
"Well, Leroy found out I was cheating on him. So he broke it off. But I'm still fucking my boss." "Well, you win some, you lose some." I smirked. She laughed.
"Hurry, we gotta go!"
I hadn't even finished eating and she dragged me across town, shopping and doing girl stuff. We ate junk food and finally left the mall.
"That was amazing!" She said.
"We spent the entire day at the mall."
"Yeah! Isn't it cool!"
"No. I'm tired!"
"Whatever. Come on, let's go!"
"Where to now?"
"My home. Nina wants to wish you personally." I rolled my eyes and sighed. "I fucking hate birthdays." She smirked and patted my hand. "Everyone does."
**
We pulled over at her house and I got down.
"You need to get your license revoked." I said. "Oh, please, it wasn't that bad!" "The old lady flew to the sidewalk!"
She rolled her eyes.
"No old person should be on the streets."
"Fucking hell."
We walked up to the front door and she opened it.
It was utterly dark and she sighed.
"I guess no one's home."
"Clearly. I wonder where they went."
"I guess they went to get you a birthday present."
"Oh, no. I'm good." I grinned.
We blindly walked to the living room and she turned on the lights.
Everyone grinned at me and screamed, surprised at me.
I jumped up and grabbed my chest, shocked.
"Oh, my god." I said.
"Sorry, my bad." Kelsie uttered. I chuckled and looked around the room. Nina, Patty, El, Caleb, Liam, Heather and Kelsie grinned at me.
"Guys, you didn't have to!" I said. Nina came to me and cupped my cheeks. "Oh, baby we had to."
I smiled and hugged her. "Thank you so much. Heather, you came!"
She grinned and hugged me. "Yeah, I did. I brought you something too." She handed me a gift. I took it and I opened it to see a case of pearl necklace laying there.
"Oh, these are gorgeous." "Cool." She grinned and walked away. El ran to me and hugged me.
"Happy birthday, Cora! I wanted to be the first to wish you but Kelsie didn't let me." "Kelsie's a bad person that's why." "Hey." She kicked my butt. I laughed.
Caleb approached me and I clenched my jaw.
"Happy birthday, Cora." "Thanks." I smiled slightly and looked away. "Time to cut the cake!" Nina said.
"Oh! What flavour?" I cut the ice cream cake and we took pictures, smiling and laughing. We all had a nice time when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"Could be the pizza guy." Kelsie said.
"I'll get it! You guys have done so much for me." I said.
I walked to the door and I opened it, to my surprise to see the most ignorant adults ever in my life.
"Hello, Cora." Mom said.
"Oh fuck."
**
I stared at her and she smirked at me.
"Aren't you gonna let me in?"
"What the fuck are you doing here?"
"Came for a little visit. It is your birthday? Damn. Happy fucking birthday." She rolled her eyes.
Kelsie came to me and she stared at her. "What the fuck is this bitch doing at my doorstep?"
"Fuck off."
I looked behind her and I glared at the man.
"You."
"Hey, Cora. So nice to see you again." He said.
They both pushed past me and Kelsie and walked to the living room.
"Wow, is this a party or what?" I walked to the living room and I glared at them.
"Get out, now." I said.
"Oh fuck off, Cora. We came here for one thing. Her." She pointed at Elora. I grabbed El and shook my head.
"No. You're not taking her."
"After I heard what happened with you and your dad, I was so happy. You did my job. How can you even look after her when you go to jail?"
"I'm not giving you her."
"You have no choice. Under any documents I am her legal guardian. So you can't do anything. If you hold her back I can call the cops and say you're holding her against her will."
"You wouldn't dare." "Don't make me." She smirked.
"Baby, you're on fire." The man whispered into her ear.
I glared at them. "Why now? Why do you want her?"
"A family. A real one."
"Clearly I'm the neglected one." I smirked.
"You were always the defect, Cora." She walked to me and she glared at me.
"Stay away from my child." She grabbed Elora's arm and pulled her from me.
"Do anything and your ass is in jail." She smiled and walked towards the door.
"Cora!" Elora screamed. I balled up my fists and I stared at her.
"Cora! You promised! Cora!" She sobbed as the woman dragged her away.
"Happy 18th birthday, sweetheart." She said before leaving the house. The man trailed behind her and he winked at me before closing the door.
There was silence in the room and everyone stared at me.
Kelsie looked at me and panted.
"Who was that man?"
I clenched my jaw and glued my eyes on the door.
"Her dad."
