I woke up late the next day. And by late I mean, awfully late. I walked toward the kitchen and I saw a note pasted on the countertop.
"Be back soon, help yourself to anything in the fridge. Helga x."
I smiled and I opened the fridge. I pulled out a few cookies and a jug of milk and I sat down, eating in my half asleep state.
Caleb sat in front of me and he yawned.
"What a night." He said. "I know. I haven't slept like that since I was knocked out by morphine." He chuckled and shook his head. "You're ridiculous." I smirked and nodded.
"So what's the next move, boss?" He asked.
"Once Helga finds Elora, we can go there. I can try to break into their house, possibly steal the documents. Burn them up. Replace them with mine."
"That's how we're gonna do it?"
"That's the illegal way. There's a legal way to do it but now it seems impossible given how we're wanted by Oklahoma's cops. We'll be subtle."
"I need to do one thing first, love."
"What's that?"
"I need to go see my mother." I stared at him. "Are you sure?"
He nodded. "Yeah. I need to go and flip her off and say that I'm happy now. I got a wonderful life, an amazing girlfriend and a hardcore sex life."
I giggled. "I don't think your mom needs to know that last part."
"Whatever. I just need to tell her to fuck off. For what she did to me." "And your dad?"
He sighed. "When I'm ready." I smirked. "You want me to hurt him for you, sweetie?" "Maybe. Give him a little tease of electric sparks."
We giggled and I shook my head. "Caleb, you're being so bad."
"What can I say? I'm in love with a criminal."
I bit my lip and I sighed. "God, you're irresistible."
He raked his fingers through his hair and smirked.
"I know."
I stood up and I walked to him. I kissed him softly and I smiled. "We have a lot to do baby. It's gonna be fun."
I walked to the living room and I sat down. I pulled out the map and I laid it down on the coffee table. It was all scribbled up and I rolled my eyes.
"How can you tell with all that scribbling?" He asked.
"I just can." I pointed where we were and I sighed.
"Honest to God, I know she's here Caleb." I said, pointing to Nebraska.
"You really think so?" I nodded. "Seemed likely to. That bitch loves Nebraska. Can't stop talking about it. What's so special anyway? Ugh." I rolled my eyes and pulled my legs up on the couch.
He sat down and stared at my map.
"I can't understand anything." I looked at him and I scoffed.
"I've had this map since I was 10. I stole it from Mrs. Steven's class." "Oh! We were looking for it all week."
I smirked.
"I'm also a thief, Caleb." "What can't you do?" He asked, leaning into my ear and kissing it. I giggled. "Nothing."
I turned back to the map and I sighed. "They say it's a small world but when you have to find someone it's fucking big. I don't know what to do."
"Hey, you're gonna find her. Helga is here to help you out. You're good." I nodded.
