1 Week Later

One week later, I sat uncomfortably in the last place I ever thought I would be; Chief Park's Office.

My seat was the closest to the desk while Jisung, Changbin, and the Captain sat around and slightly behind me. Chief Park sat behind his desk and pinched the bridge of his nose for the umpteenth time. Clearly he was trying to fight off a headache and was losing.

I kept clenching and unclenching my hands in my lap to try to calm down and I jumped slightly when my chair slid backwards a bit. I looked back and Changbin had his foot hooked around the leg of my chair. He winked and then pulled me back the rest of the way so that my chair was in line with theirs.

"Together." Changbin said, smiling.

I jumped again when the Chief hit his desk. All of our heads turned back to look at him.

"I'm so glad that you all are together, but you can't all take responsibility for everything that has happened in the last few weeks."

The Captain stood up. "I can. And I will, sir."

The Chief sighed and leaned back in his seat, pinching the bridge of his nose again. After a minute of silence he crossed his arms and looked right at the Captain.

"So you are prepared to take responsibility in terms of system breaches across your entire department, broken Korean laws, her broken parole, and the international laws that she broke as well?"

"I am." He said without missing a beat.

"Wait." I shot up out of my chair. "No. I take full responsibility for my actions. I broke the rules and those laws and I know the consequences of my actions."

Changbin and Jisung stood up as well. "We also take responsibility."

The Captain looked around me. "What?"

The Chief just dropped his head into his hand again and murmured something.

"I'm her parole officer, therefore I am also at fault." Changbin said matter-of-factly.

"And-" Jisung started to say before the Captain cut him off. "You are all a part of my team. I am the leader of that team, which means I take responsibility in times like this."

"Look," the Chief said loudly to get our attention before returning his voice to normal. "I don't really care who takes responsibility. All I know is that she broke her parole, and several additional laws here and internationally, therefore she will need to be detained."

I could feel the color drain from my face. I knew the consequences of what I had done, but I wasn't ready to go just yet.

The Captain stepped closer to the desk and placed a file in front of the Chief. "And this is?"

The Captain took a step back to rejoin us. "That is the paperwork that I filed in Y/N's second week here that categorizes her as not just a parolee but a Contracted Employee."

Chief Park looked through the file briefly. "And?"

"As a Contracted Employee she can help out in ways that a person on parole or even a normal employee would be unable to do, such as go undercover."

I felt my own jaw drop open slightly and I turned to look at Jisung and Changbin. Apparently, they were just as confused about this as I was because they both looked at each other and then shrugged.

"The ice is very thin Captain Bang." Chief Park stated, his voice lowering slightly.

The Captain nodded a bit in response. "I will be the first to admit that her undercover operation went a bit deeper than any of us would have liked and that she did break some rules that I wish she wouldn't have had to break, but it was necessary for the capture of Rena Richelieu."
