64. I Believe In A Thing Called Love

1 Year And A Day Later - July 7, 2025

A lot had happened over the past year. A week after Lucy was born, Lennon passed away. Dave and I woke up and headed downstairs. Dave went to make coffee while I went to the living room to wake the dogs up. Shadow got up and had run right over to me but Lennon didn't move. Shadow followed me as I walked to the kitchen and told Dave about Lennon. The rest of that day was spent cuddling on the couch with the kids and being sad. We knew it was coming but it was almost like Lennon waited until after Lucy arrived to leave.

Besides that, Gisele had moved to London to live with Rufus. She had stayed out in LA until her contract was up on the show she had been working on. We had thrown a big going away party for her a couple of days before she left. It was sad to see her go but she should be with her husband. Abby and Taylor had also had another baby, a little boy named Lex. They didn't tell anyone anything at all, not until their surrogate was four months along.

I had also gone back to work but I took any and all school vacations off so I could spend it with the kids. The kids were all on summer vacation now so I wasn't currently working. Dave and the guys had been doing a few festival shows here and there but they weren't officially touring the new album yet. They would start in the new year after Chris finished his tour for his new solo album and Taylor finished the few Chevy Metal shows they had booked. Dave was also busy planning and organizing this year's CalJam, which he now did every other year.

Dave had the week off though from everything because we had not one but two weddings to go to. Jordyn's was today and Kimmy's was on Friday. Kimmy was staying with Lucas and Lucy today while James came with us. He was going to be the ring bearer for Jordyn and her soon-to-be husband Daniel. Lucas was under the weather and Lucy was just getting over a cold. Dave and James were getting ready in the girls's bathroom because I had completely taken over mine and Dave's with Jessica and Michelle. They had done hair and makeup on the Elvis movie but had since become my glam squad. Jessica had put my hair up into a low and somewhat loose bun while Michelle made me look fabulous. After they left, I was on my own to pick out a dress. I was looking at a dress when someone tugged on my robe. I looked down and smiled as Lucas looked up at me.

"Do you like this one?" I asked him and he gurgled at me. I hung the dress back up and picked Lucas up.

"Mama no go," he said and put his bottom lip out.

"Awww buddy I have to. Kimmy will be here with you and Lucy," I said in response.

"Kimmy go. You stay," Lucas said. I hugged him tightly as he started crying. I sat down on the floor and started rocking sideways slightly to calm him down. While we were doing that, Kimmy ran in and immediately let out a sigh of relief when she saw Lucas with me.

"I would love nothing more than to stay with you and Lucy but James and daddy need me tonight. We will come home as soon as we can ok. I promise," I said back as Kimmy joined us on the closet floor.

"I wanna go if James goes," Lucas said as he pushed my arms away, stood up and turned to glare at me.

"Lucas you have to stay here buddy. We don't want you getting any sicker," I responded.

"Plus we need you better for my wedding on Friday buddy. You have a very important job to do," Kimmy added. Lucas looked at Kimmy then back at me and knew he was out numbered.

"Ok, but you promise to come see me when you get home?" Lucas asked as he wrapped me up in a hug. I hugged him tightly and kissed the top of his head.

"Yes, I promise. I'll come and snuggle with you when we all get home," I replied.

Lucas smiled as he let go of me and went with Kimmy back to his room. I picked out a grey dress with a sheer overdress that had flowers on it and a pair of black high heels. I snapped an Instagram pic in the bedroom mirror before going and checking on Dave and James. Dave was just finishing James's tie when I walked into the bathroom.
